This month is all about finding and harnessing your motivation, which means we also need to talk about stress. When you’re stressed it’s hard to find the energy to keep going, even if you really want to.
Stress is 100% natural, designed to help us manage during fight or flight situations - like helping our predecessors escape from lions and tigers and bears (oh my!). I don’t know about you, but I can’t remember the last time I had to run away from a carnivorous beast.
Instead, we are dealing with chronic stress every day, all day. Work, family, relationship, health, and money stressors are just a few. Our bodies aren’t designed to be on high-alert all the time, which can cause serious negative impacts on our health. Disrupted sleep, moodiness, and serious health concerns can all be intertwined with stress.
You can do a lot to help mitigate the effects of stress and its impacts, including natural ones that our ancestors have been using for thousands of years like the adaptogens found in plants and herbs. In today’s episode, I’m revisiting an interview with Medical Herbalist, Paula Grainger, where we chat about what adaptogens are, her favorites to support women’s health, and how to get started with them.
