This is the first episode in the new series, “Unlocking the Book of Revelation”. In this episode Cale explains one of the keys to better understanding this book in Sacred Scripture and gives an in-depth look at the historical context in which St. John wrote it.

“Blessed are you when people insult you, persecute you and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of me. Rejoice and be glad, because great is your reward in heaven, for in the same way they persecuted the prophets who were before you.” Matthew 5:11-12

Cale talks about this Scripture passage, and how the command to “rejoice” is actually the tenth beatitude.

Cale continues to unpack the  meaning of the beatitudes found in Matthew’s Gospel. What does it mean to be pure in spirit? Plus, the Old Testament background that illuminates the meaning of the beatitudes.

Did you know that there are 10 beatitudes? Cale unpacks the ten beatitudes found in Matthew 5, explaining what they mean and how to live them out.

In the Old Testament there is a mysterious prefigurement of the Eucharist of the New Covenant: the “bread of the presence”. What was it and how does it shed light on the Eucharist? Cale tackles this question on today’s TFE.

In 2002, Pope John Paul II instituted the “luminous mysteries” into the devotional cycle of the Holy Rosary. The five mysteries are the baptism of Jesus, the wedding at Cana, the proclamation of the kingdom of God, the transfiguration, and the institution of the Eucharist. Cale unpacks the first three of these, giving an in-depth look at these illuminating events in the life of Christ.
