Investors are asking what a Federal Reserve (Fed) rate cut could mean for stocks. It really comes down to whether we are about to go into a recession or not. In 2001 and 2007 the economy was quickly moving into a recession, and rate cuts couldn’t stop that. But other times in recent history, like 1998 and 1995, offered a much stronger economy, and the rate cut helped to stabilize global worries.
