June 15, 1904 - A group of churchgoers from Manhattan are headed to a summer picnic in Long Island. It’s a trip that the group have made for several years, and today’s voyage shouldn’t be any different. But instead the joyous outing turned into a disaster. It would virtually wipe an entire community off the map of Manhattan and it would be New York's worst loss of life until Sept. 11, 2001.
