Adam is quite possibly one of the happiest guys I have ever met, from the moment we had our first conversation there was an instant 'hey, you're weird - I like you' moment. The first conversation we had was 2 months ago when Adam opened up and shared his struggles growing up feeling like he was different and often misunderstood, not just by the people around him, but even he himself. Fast forward into his late twenties, the discovery that he had been living his life undiagnosed with ADHD was the internal shift he needed to realise that he wasn't broken, he was different because he had been gifted a super power.
This conversation may be one of my favourite ones. We discuss what it's like viewing the world through the eyes of someone with ADHD and how the brain functions when undertaking simple conversations and tasks. Adam's view on his diagnosis is one he if grateful for because it gifted him a life filled with meaning, purpose and gratitude and now wants to help others see that ADHD is a super power if you use it to your advantage.
In this episode we talk about:
- What is ADHD
- How can you be diagnosed? What are the symptoms or signs?
- Where to after the diagnosis?
- Tools and coping mechanisms to help you manage ADHD
- Reparenting the inner child who may be wounded
- Understanding yourself on a whole new level
This conversation was one that changed my life and I'm so grateful to Adam for being open enough to share his experience with me at a cafe 2 months ago.
