Be social and do it often. Together, we are strong.
We might think that spending time with friends is easy, but in Western culture, which prefers work over relationships, having a good time is actually becoming more complicated.
Many use the work crutch as a supporting pillar to hide behind their insecurity, loneliness, and anxiety.
It is easy to say that you have to work late, and sometimes, that is fully justified, as you have a big project to handle.
That responsibility alone comes with your excellence and trying to do a good job.
Humans are creatures of habit. Some are good; others can become bad.
We can quickly fall into the trap of thinking we are doing our best and staying late, while in the meantime, we have substituted personal excellence for a rat-race mindset.
Work hard, work long hours. You feel better about yourself. You do what you promised to yourself. Sounds about right…
That is good on one side, as it fuels your habits, but it can also become a self-fulfilling prophecy as you cage yourself, especially if you focus only on always working.
Science shows that burning the midnight oil might not be as productive. It's better to focus on how to maximize the time you have.
Burning the night oil quickly can become an excuse not to be social.
Remember, you have one life, and yes, you should strive to do your best. It happens to all of us who work long days.
But do you want to spend all this time by yourself?
Do not substitute living your life to the fullest for your work.
Work is just one tiny piece, although we spend 80.000 in our work life there.
Have fun and ask yourself why you do what you do.
Question your motives, and you might find that you fuel your ego.Take risks, even when uncomfortable, meet new people, set stretch goals, and use your logic and heart! If you use your heart and emotions and not logic, try to balance it with logic. Ask others for a rational solution and vice versa.
You got this: hang out with others and stay strong! :-)
