On this Independence Day, we decided to enter the audio vaults and dig up an episode of the show from the very first year of The Five Count's existence. This episode is from April 30, 2005 and was filled with pre-pubescent voices and a lot of hostility. An angry Chinese guy called in to reprimand us for being sophomoric, Jeff Goldblum called in to talk about toilets, and Randy "Macho Man" Savage called in to tell Hulk Hogan to go to heck. Luckily, we calmed the waters before the show was over! Happy Independence Day!

This episode of The Five Count featured an exclusive interview with Mike Reiss. Mike is best known as a longtime writer and producer for the TV show The Simpsons. He’s also written for shows like ALF, It’s Garry Shandling’s Show, The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson, and co-created The Critic. During the show he discussed the longevity of The Simpsons, what it’s like behind the scenes when writing the show, and his new book “Springfield Confidential: Jokes, Secrets, and Outright Lies from a Lifetime Writing for The Simpsons.” Find it at a bookstore near you!

During the rest of the show we argued the pros and cons of the fanny pack making a comeback, spoke with local celebrity Stunt Monkey about Harley Davidson moving production overseas, discussed the tips and tricks of competitive hot dog eating, and did The Bartman! Whoa, mama!

The Five Count recently had a chance to speak with actress Rebekka Johnson. Rebekka is best known for her role as "Dawn Rivecca" on the Netflix series GLOW. She's also appeared in TV shows like Arrested Development, Prankville, and Law & Order: Criminal Intent. The latest season of GLOW is available now on Netflix!

This installment of The Five Count featured an exclusive interview with Felix Cavaliere. Felix is best known as a member of the band The Young Rascals. Known for hits like Good Lovin', Groovin', People Got to Be Free and A Beautiful Morning, The Young Rascals are also members of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. During the show he discussed starting out as a classic pianist, the impact The Rascals had on the culture in the late '60s, and his new version of "The Rascals" featuring original member Gene Cornish. It was a beautiful evening!

During the rest of the show we discussed ways to make friends in the men’s room, paid tribute to Pantera’s Vinnie Paul and pro wrestling legend Big Van Vader, and gave away tickets to see Dua Lipa at The Armory in Minneapolis. WDGAF!

This episode of The Five Count was our 14-year anniversary celebration! During the show we looked back fondly over the last 14 years, played our favorite dad songs for Father’s Day, read pro wrestling magazines from the late ‘90s, and unearthed some exclusive interviews we conducted with The Beatles and Burt Reynolds. We found them in an old box in Ton’s attic!

The Five Count recently had a chance to speak with two members of bands performing in Minnesota this week! First, we were joined for an exclusive interview by guitarist Joe Reinhart. Joe is best known as a member of the band Hop Along. Hailing from Philadelphia, Hop Along has been making music since 2005. See them live at the Turf Club in St. Paul on June 13!

We were also joined for an exclusive interview with singer/guitarist James Alex. James is best known as the frontman for the band Beach Slang. Also hailing from Philadelphia, Beach Slang has been touring the country since 2013. See them live (now touring as Quiet Slang) at the 7th St. Entry on June 15!

This installment of The Five Count featured a celebration of what would’ve been Prince’s 60th birthday! During the show we proclaimed our disgust for the state of Iowa, discussed our favorite food shelf memories, commemorated the 40th anniversary of Prince’s debut album, and interviewed Prince’s first manager Owen Husney. He’s the author of the new book “Famous People Who’ve Met Me: A Memoir By the Man Who Discovered Prince.” The show was most certainly soft and wet!

This episode of The Five Count featured an exclusive interview with Mark Farner. Mark is best known as the former singer and guitarist for the band Grand Funk Railroad. Known for hits like Some Kind of Wonderful, We’re An American Band, and I’m Your Captain (Closer to Home), Grand Funk has sold more than 25 million albums dating back to 1969. During the show he discussed selling-out arenas back in the ‘70s, his decision to leave Grand Funk and go solo, and his memories of playing with Ringo Starr & His All-Starr Band. After that, we did the loco-motion!

During the rest of the show we complained about the high markups at Suncoast Video, discussed our favorite Hulk Hogan theme songs, and chatted with a woman who bribed Kerry King with ceramic kitties to get backstage at a Slayer concert. Metal!

This installment of The Five Count featured an exclusive interview with actor Burt Ward. Burt as best known for his role as “Robin” on the TV show Batman. He also appeared in films like Virgin High, Karate Raider, Robot Ninja, and High School U.S.A. During the show he discussed the ongoing popularity of the Batman TV show, his memories of recording music with Frank Zappa, and the details of his company Gentle Giants Rescue and Adoptions. His new Gentle Giants Dog Food is available now!

During the rest of the show we received a call from “Benny” from the film Total Recall, Dustin explained why gluten-free baked goods are awful, and we discussed the origins the term “redonkulous” and why people should never use it. Of course, Ton says it all the time.
