The real you is invisible—it is your soul. The real you is your soul - your thinking. “As a man thinks in his soul so he is” (Ps 23:7). A man and woman can copulate and produce biological life, but only God can give soul life. “The Lord is the One who stretches out the heavens and the One who lays the foundation of the earth, and who forms the soul of a man within him” (Zech 12:1). Our bodies age and die but our souls live forever. The souls of everyone, without exception, will spend eternity either in heaven or in the Lake of Fire. The decision you make about Jesus Christ today while you’re on this earth will determine the final destiny of your soul for all eternity so choose wisely. Choose the work of Jesus Christ on the cross. “He who believes in the Son has eternal life and he who does not obey the mandate to believe in the Son shall not see life but the wrath of God abides on him forever” (John 3:36). We choose the eternal destiny of our soul.

The conventional Christian is a casual Christian—they have salvation but are ignorant of God’s plan for their life. They substitute morality and sweetness. But morality isn’t spirituality and maturity is not being sweet. The Christian life must be learned to be executed. It’s not a feeling. It’s about faith and fact. Christianity is an in-depth study of the Word of God. “Solid food belongs to them that are of full age, even those who by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil” (Heb 5:14).

Worship is the expression of your personal love for God. Worship is thought, not emotion. “When you assemble let all things be done for edification” (1 Cor 14:26). You can only give to God what you actually possess. What can you give Him? Honor. Respect. Time. Concentration. There are three types of worship. The first is respect, deep admiration based on the quality of the person you’re thinking about. You can only respect the Lord through understanding His thinking. “Let this mind be in you that was also in Christ Jesus” (Phil 2:5). Reverence is another type of worship and it is growing respect. The difference between respect and reverence is concentration, a matter of recall. Honor is the highest type of worship. It is great esteem. Nehemiah 8:8 gives us the pattern for church service: listen, pray, apply and celebrate.

People can stress you out. This is a key area of testing for us. Learn how to deal with W.O.J.s (weird obnoxious jerks) and those who want to manipulate and control you. To pass people testing you must have humility; understand the mechanics of God’s will, plan and purpose for your life; and develop divine viewpoint thinking. “Let this mind be in you that was also in Christ Jesus” (Phil 2:5). That’s why the 10 problem-solving devices are so important. You won’t doubt yourself. You’ll have the capacity and discernment to understand people and the circumstances around you. “For if anyone thinks himself to be something when he is nothing, he deceives himself” (Gal 6:3).

Being impulsive is a lack of humility. Impulsiveness can destroy you. “A person’s arrogance will bring him low, but a lifestyle of wisdom will attain honor” (Prov 23:29). You must understand God’s Word if you’re going to speak about Him. Think before you speak. If you’re impulsive you give Satan an advantage. Don’t run ahead of God. “A fool expresses all of his emotions but a wise person controls them” (Prov 29:11).

The filling of the Holy Spirit and the Word of God empowers you to live the Christian life. The world’s problems can’t be solved apart from the Word of God and the laws of divine establishment. Human solutions are no solutions. “A person’s arrogance will bring him low but a lifestyle of wisdom will attain honor” (Prov 23:29). Humility is the foundation for your spiritual life. God requires professionalism, humility and integrity from you. Professionalism—to represent Christ you need to have an academic understanding of God’s Word. Integrity is the spiritual strength in our soul.

God has ordained authority. Authority is designed to keep us from self-destructing, personally and as a nation. "Let everyone be subject to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except that which God has established, and the authorities that exist are established by God” (Rom 13:1-7). Authority will make mistakes and part of growing up and developing humility is the ability to handle unfair authority. Freedom is related to knowing Scripture. “I will walk in freedom for I seek your doctrines” (Ps 119:45).

Your mission is to communicate God’s justice, righteousness, and unfailing love to those who haven’t believed. This is what God expects of you. “How will they call upon Him in whom they have not believed? How will they believe in Him whom they have not heard? And how will they hear without a preacher? How will they preach unless they are sent?” (Rom 10:14-15). If someone wants to become a Christian, somebody must tell them how to do it. This is your mission. But God won’t send you unless you are prepared. You can’t represent God if you don’t understand God.

The only way to reverse the decline of America is for you to grow spiritually. God needs you to make your number one priority staying filled with the Holy Spirit and taking time every day to learn the Word of God and apply it. The life of Christ is our template. “Hold fast the pattern of sound words which you have heard from me in faith and love which are in Christ Jesus. That good thing which was committed to you, keep it by means of the Holy Spirit who dwells in us” (2 Tim 1:13-14). As you see indications of our nation’s decline, don’t get discouraged. Remember Jesus Christ controls history. Don’t look at the circumstances, focus on divine solutions. Don’t speculate, just articulate. Represent Christ. “Examine yourselves as to whether you are in the faith. Test yourselves. Do you not know yourself that Jesus Christ is in you?” (2 Cor 13:5).

The loss of spiritual stability, society’s anchor point, has allowed Americans to stumble into the darkness of social mores. Don’t ever blend your spiritual life with the world and never bend your principles. “Come out from among them and be separate” (2 Cor 6:17-18). The key to removing false doctrines and contaminants in your life is to recognize, rebound and remove yourself. “You purify your soul when you obey the truth” (1 Pet 1:22). If you want to be a useful vessel in the Master’s house, He must be able to trust you to attend to His interests. “The Lord knows the ones that are His” (2 Tim 2:19). Never compromise with the world or with false doctrine. Never compromise for cultural relevancy just so you will be accepted. “You must contend earnestly for the faith” (Jude :3).
