Fear and hope are both present within us, and it's important to acknowledge and accept them. Fear can cause anxiety and panic attacks, but we can learn to overcome it. Visualizing outcomes that you truly want and focusing on what is true can help combat fear. Breathing exercises and celebrating small wins are effective tools in managing fear. Choosing to listen to the hopeful voice within us and living with a hope-centered mindset can lead to success and finding solutions.

Dr. Linda Medcalf discusses the issue of teacher bullying and its correlation with school violence. She emphasizes the importance of teachers treating students with compassion and understanding, and offers a solution-focused approach to address challenging behaviors. The approach involves seeing beyond negative behaviors and looking for strengths and competencies in students. By acknowledging and highlighting these positive aspects, teachers can create a more supportive and empowering environment for their students. In this conversation, Linda and Cher discuss the importance of adopting a solution-focused approach in education. They emphasize the power of recognizing and highlighting positive behaviors in students, rather than focusing solely on their problems. They also discuss the impact of teachers' words and actions on students' well-being and the potential connection between negative experiences at school and school shootings. Linda shares her experience of giving a TEDx talk on this topic and the research that supports the solution-focused approach.
