Just as Neville Chamberlain bought shame to himself and the British government by his policy of appeasement a the Munich Conference; likewise the British Mandatory Authority foolishly engaged in a policy of appeasement with the Arabs in Palestine. The policy intended to calm the Arabs and curb further violence did nothing of the sort and the untold lives of hundreds of thousands of Jews, likely millions, paid the price. The Peele Commission proposed offering the Jews just a small sliver of land and the balance be awarded to the Arabs, but even this outrageously advantageous solution was rejected out of hand by the Arabs.
