On this episode of the Foundation, we were able to catch up with the Founder and CEO of the Kulinary Kings catering company, Gregory "Self" Evans. Evans is a chef who has over a decade of experience in the kitchen which includes creating his very own signature spice brand called "Majik Dust",  appearing on food various shows, spending nearly two years gaining experience  at The Food Network, and also meeting the likes of world renowned Chef Bobby Flay. Evans uses his superior culinary expertise supplemented by his business acumen to give listeners a map on how to build in the food industry as well as life in general. Evans did a great job of connecting the concepts he was talking about to real life applications such as displaying how he attracts more customers by choosing to incorporate more cuisine styles as opposed to specialization. Peace Family, This week on the foundation we sit down with the founder of the U.G.L.Y. (Unity Gathers the Lost Youth) which is one of the fastest growing and most popular brands in New Jersey. His clothes have been worn by stars such as the A$AP Mob and featured in the world famous XXL magazine. Tajh begins the interview with a description of his childhood which included him moving around a lot as a young man which Tajh used to his advantage creating an expansive network which would come in handy later. Tajh then shares with us the challenges he faced as a young African American student in predominantly white school. Tajh then talks about his battle against conformity which included listening to rock music, skateboarding, and wearing skinny jeans well before they were socially acceptable. This struggle with conformity eventually led Tajh to starting his first clothing line in college which he explains fell through because of a sour business relationship. Tajh then explains to us how he came up with the concept of his current clothing line U.G.L.Y (Unity Gathers the Lost Youth) and the toughest challenges to face when running a business. This was one of my favorite interviews because of the authenticity of Tajh as he shares stories of personal battles like his lifelong battle to preserve his autonomy and uniqueness while also being connected to so many people. Tajh also provides us the blue print of starting and successfully managing a business from the way he releases products, to creating an expansive network, and staying true too yourself. On Episode 9 of the Foundation we sit down with Neil Thompson. Neil is a college graduate of Wilmington University, Neil also co founded both TMT Hoops basketball training services as well as the upstart 1-on-1 basketball league "Who Got Next" which has taken the Jersey Shore by storm. The interview begins as Neil explains his experience of not meeting his dad until the age of 15 and how that affected him. Neil then takes us on a detailed journey of his turbulent collegiate career which included numerous obstacles and pitfalls that would have made many people call it quits. Neil then talks about his road to redemption which included taking 23 classes one year in order to graduate while simultaneously winning a National Championship at Brookdale Community college and becoming Player of the Year. Neil then talks about the transition in his life when he had his first child and met his girlfriend which culminated with the couple starting a basketball training service. In addition Neil also walks us through how he and his longtime friend  co-founded the "Who Got Next Basketball League."  What stood out to us in Neil's interview was his perseverance and resilience in the face of extreme adversity. This week we sit down with software developer Agbai Iroha as he shares tools we can use to develop foundations of our own in the software developing industry. The interview begins with a background of Agbai's childhood in which he chronicles his early years during which he actually moved from his native country of Nigeria at the young age of 6 to begin a new life in America. Agbai then discusses his college experience as a Division 1 football player and how he got interested in software engineering in college. The last segment of the interview includes Agbai explaining how he used his skills learned in the software engineering field to create his very own mobile app "MYXR" events for the entertainment industry. The concept of adaptability was very prevalent throughout Agbai's story from him having to adapt to a new country early in life, adapting to position changes during his football career, and finally taking the skills he's learned throughout the years and adapting them to his work now.
