The parable of the talents is a familiar story found in Matthew 25. But did you know Jesus was referring to us today? This week we will learn that this passage is more than about money. It’s about what we are doing with the gifts that God has entrusted us with. And we need to ask, are we allowing fear to stop us from using those gifts God has given us? We’ll also hear about news surrounding Israel as well as Apples of Gold.

We welcome Zach Sicherman to the program this week. Zach is the producer of the Faithkeepers documentary, a documentary about Christian persecution happening in the Middle East. The persecution of our fellow believers in Jesus is real and happening all over the world today, and we want to help you get involved in raising awareness. Then, stick around for news surrounding Israel and an inspirational story in Apples of Gold.

Yom Kippur, the most serious day of the year for the Jewish people, is this week. Millions will spend Wednesday evening and Thursday fasting and praying in their local synagogues. We will learn about the Day of Atonement or Yom Kippur on this week’s episode and how the ancient picture of the scapegoat points us to the “Suffering Servant” found in Isaiah 53. We will start the program with news surrounding Israel and end with Apples of Gold, a dramatic reading from Holocaust survivor Zvi Kalisher.

Do you believe the Kingdom of God is already here on earth or do you believe it is coming when Jesus returns? These questions have been debated for thousands of years. This week we’ll learn that when you read the Bible from beginning to end—from Genesis to Revelation—you’ll learn that Jesus’ Kingdom is yet to come and understand why that is so important! Also included in today’s program: News surrounding Israel and Apples of Gold, a dramatic reading from Holocaust survivor Zvi Kalisher.

This week we are continuing our focus on “Righteous Gentiles,” those who stood up in different ways during the Holocaust and saved Jewish people’s lives. We welcome to the program Dr. Susanna Kokkonen, director of Christian Friends of Yad Vashem. We’ll learn about the important work her team is doing at the world’s Holocaust remembrance center in Jerusalem. Then, Chris will take us to the Old Testament where we’ll hear about a gentile who blessed the Jewish people when persecution was mounting against them. Stick around for news surrounding Israel and an inspirational story in Apples of Gold.

As most of us look back at the Holocaust, we hope that as believers, if faced with evil, we would stand up and make a difference. For the next two weeks on the program we are going to be focusing on “Righteous Gentiles.” Those are gentiles who stood up in different ways during the Holocaust and saved Jewish people’s lives. Today we welcome Cheryl Buxamusa to the program, a friend of Corrie ten Boom’s. Then Chris will share about a Friends of Israel worker that fought against the Nazis in Poland. Stick around for news surrounding Israel and an inspirational story in Apples of Gold.

Have you ever heard that the church is “the bride of Christ?” The Bible uses the picture of marriage all throughout Scripture. This week Chris takes us back to the times of Jesus and explains, in detail, a Jewish wedding. Once we understand the ancient Jewish tradition of marriage, we better understand what Jesus was saying to His disciples when He said he had to leave and prepare a place for us. And we can wait expectantly for His return. God is in the details! Stay with us for news surrounding Israel and an encouraging story in Apples of Gold.

We’re focusing on our most recent issue of Israel My Glory magazine this week. Its theme is the prophet Ezekiel. Chris will share about Ezekiel’s vision of God’s departure from the First Temple and what it meant to the Jewish people. We also welcome back Steve Herzig to the program. He wrote an article on the Jewish memorial day, Tisha B’Av. We’ll learn the sad history of this day and why the Jewish people mourn the loss of the their temple.

Do you know what a Zionist is? If you believe the Jewish people have a right to exist in their ancestral homeland and that they have a right to protect themselves as a nation both biblically and politically, then you are a Zionist! We welcome Douglas Altabef, chairman of the board at Im Tirtzu, an Israeli non-profit promoting Zionist values to the Israeli people. Douglas and Chris will be discussing an unlikely growing trend in Israel—anti-Zionist movements on Israeli campuses. Listen how Im Tirtzu is working to change ideas of these students and faculty. Then we’ll hear Apples of Gold, a dramatic reading from Holocaust survivor Zvi Kalisher.
