My mother is in town to do some Christmas shopping this weekend, so I thought it would be fun to get her on the show to talk about how the world has changed in terms of career paths and entrepreneurship.

She talks about the educational journey that existed in the 70s that didn’t see as many people getting post-secondary education as today. There were also many employers that would hire and then train you.

This episode is great for anyone working part-time and facing some backlash from their family because of not taking a tradition career path. My mother shares advice about how to keep everyone happy.

Joe and I were in Jamaica for a week to celebrate the wedding of two of our clients. We travel a lot, but it’s usually based on going to conferences with a couple of days at the end for sightseeing.

If it wasn’t for this wedding, we probably would have never gone on an all-inclusive vacation. We had the best time ever! We had a massive plan to be productive while still relaxing, but none of that productivity happened. And that’s okay! I came back and I’m so relaxed and have so much clarity.

I talk today about how getting a business off the ground is a lot like getting an airplane off the ground (trust me). You’ll hear tips about how to build a social following and credibility.

I was so sick last week and tried to hold down the fort as much as a I could. During those eleven day of sickness, I didn’t post on social media at all and it was quite a learning experience. 

I love social media and creating a community that I get to interact with daily, so stepping away from it for so long as a pretty big deal to me. I’ve been building my business with social media since 2009, so I’m anxiety-ridden when I don’t show up on there.

Huge announcement: I’m engaged! I want to talk a bit about my engagement and how it happened in San Diego, but I’m going to tie it into a discussion about going into business as a couple.

Me and Joe started holding business workshops together, with the first one being in March 2017. We were trying to figure out how we were going to work collaboratively because my business was on the fitness side, but Joe was doing consulting. 

Building a business together has improved our personal life because the most heated arguments are always on the business side. You can achieve the same results, and I’ll give you my two biggest pieces of advice for going into business together to guide you.
