Born in London in 1962, he started working in comics at age 16 for Marvel UK - the British imprint of Marvel Comics. In 1992 he teamed with Garth Ennis on Hellblazer, which would become one of the biggest long-running titles in comics history. The rapport they established led to Preacher, another pivotal series known for its often brutal subject matter and perverse sense of humor, in 1995.
