Welcome back to the Gen X Experience! Today I'm joined by my very good friend Eske Dost - founder of Inspire Change, a Sports Nutritionist, Strength and Conditioning Specialist, and World Champion Boxer and Weightlifter. She breaks down our health and vitality needs as we age into simple bite sized actionable habits that will care for, fuel and protect our minds and bodies. This podcast will make a world of difference to the quality of our lives and our independence as we age. Every time I chat with Eske, I learn new and important things I can do for a brighter and healthier future self - today was no exception!
Listen in for a 90 minute flashback into what we were listening to, what we were driving and what movies were hot back then! I hope you enjoy the show as much as I did making it for you.
'm doing a '2 shows for Tuesday' starting with a morning show and I'll be back later with my regular Gen X Experience show at 3pm. It's been a fun morning filling in for Aaron today, chatting about the weather, the phoenix palms on the main street and all kinds of things in between. Music randomly selected by what I've recently downloaded in no order and by no genre! Thanks for listening and letting me entertain you!
It's a trip back to 1988, a quick look at the social landscape in NZ then a deep dive into the hits of that year. I play the only 3 NZ tracks to hit #1 that year plus a selection of the best tunes that will take you straight back to leather jackets, slouch socks, big earrings and even bigger hair. Thanks for listening, see you next week!!
Starting with a short tribute to Sir Sam Neil and Kaumatua Ruru Harepeka Nako Hona who passed over within days of one another. We follow this up with a setting of the scene back in 1986, the socio economic climate, the activism, the wins and of course the most popular tunes being played on our airwaves. Thanks for joining me for another Gen X Experience.
Today I had the pleasure to interview someone from my Toastmaster family, Selwyn Cook: a real life hero and advocate for our Disability Community and we talk about all he's done and continues to do to include them in the world of employment and business. It's a story I've heard before but knew it was important and wanted to give him another platform to share it. I follow up our fab interview with some great old time kiwi tunes with one British single and a fantastic cover by an Irishman who goes by Garron music. Thanks for listening beautiful people - have a wonderful Matariki weekend!!
Hey beautiful people! Join me for a few goodies from a decade plus ago. Maroon 5, Ed Sheeran, Sia, Katy Perry, Pink and more. As always, I throw in some interesting facts about the bands and musicians I play - there's always a background story to every star, song and era. Thanks for listening.
From Herbs to Dragon, Peking Man and Stellar and lots more in between, I've played 2 of each of some long time highly regarded Kiwi bands from the past and present. There were so many to choose from that I'll do part 2 next week....
A follow on to last week's show ending my playlist with some Queen, Fleetwood Mac, Kings Of Leon, Led Zepp, G'n'r and all the interesting facts that live behind these tracks. All for your listening pleasure - thanks for tuning in!
A few 90's tunes but a big interview with a very cool cat I met last week in Raglan. An intrepid traveler from Nottingham England with a vibrant personality who plays the guitar, writes poetry and has had lots of interesting chapters in life. What a great chat we had! Sorry a bit's missing - the tech stopped along the way and we're missing about 25 mins but well worth a listen anyways. What a vibe that was!!
