Thanks for joining me to start your week! News, weather, local and wider news, this day in history and more. This week the tunes are all animal themed and we got some toe tapping ones for you to start the day right.
Join me on an unusual musical journey playing songs from friendships created between artists of different genres. Lady Gag and Tony Bennet, Kate Bush and David Gilmour, Snoop Dogg and Willie Nelson, Johnny Cash and Bob Dylan and more. Plus interesting fun facts about the artists themselves and how they forged their friendships.
Thanks for joining me this afternoon, on the first day of the Chinese NY of the fire horse, for some of the (in my humble opinion!) world's best guitarists!! Keep in mind I've only got 2 hours, it was tough to whittle them down and then to choose only 2 of each of their songs. Carlos Santana, Eric Clapton, Jimi Hendrix, Stevie Ray Vaughn, Peter Frampton, Mark Knopfler, Jimmy Page and Lindsay Buckingham. The list speaks for itself...
Join me for a great show lined up starting with U2 and ending with the Corrs. In between we got The Cranberries, Van the Man, and Hozier. I give you fun and interesting facts to go with the bands history and fun facts about them to make you laugh. I'll also tell you the place to be this Friday and why (Stewart St for the outdoor premiere of One Love Ocen Film Bonanza!) and where you can take your loved one for lunch or dinner this Saturday for Valentines Day! The set menu (with complimentary drink)and cocktail specials at Orca will give your love that added touch as you watch the sun go down from their outdoor deck. Thanks for joining me today -Ma te wa good peopleXx
Back to school with some old school tunes, news, weather, and this day in history! I interview Dulcie Brunel from our Raglan iHub and Phil McCabe and Peggy Oki to promote the One Love Ocean Film Festival here in Raglan for the next month.
Join me for a morning of beautiful waiata and celebration. News of the day from around the country and globaaly, on this day in history and so much more. Kiwi music all morning but ending with a Bob Marley tune to celebrate Bob too on what would have been his 81st birthday! Happy Birthday Uncle Bob, Happy Waitangi Aotearoa!
I met with Alan and Kristin from the Irish/Australian toe tapping band The Barleyshakes. Starting as a 3 piece pub band in Dublin back in 1992, this band went next level when Kristin joined and brought her classically trained fiddle playing and beautiful harmonies. They headlined the famous Woodford Folk Festival in 2000 and loved the sunshine energy so much that they packed up and left Ireland's climate for the Sunshine coast where they raised their children, who are grown and accomplished musicians in theri own right. In fact they've joined Ma nad Pa on the road from a young age and have leaned their talents and energy into the Barleyshakes Family Band. Alan also gave his incredible talents and solo work into the soundtrack of Lord of the Rings: Fellowship of the Rings. They're playing tonight at 7pm at The Old School Arts Centre and I highly recommend heading down there for the best Irish/Australian duo I've ever heard. You won't be disappointed. They're on tour throughout NZ so check the dates and places out on their FB, Instagram or website for more information. The BarleyShakes, well worth a watch, pint and a jig to!
ACDC, INXS, Icehouse, Jimmy Barnes, Sia, and more! Some of our favourites tunes created by our Aussie Brothers in Arms for your listening pleasure! Thanks for listening. Xx
