Jeff and Rocky recall the humiliation (and welts) brought on by school-sanctioned corporal punishment back in the day, and Rocky shares an event that could have been torn directly from the pages of the Bible (not the good parts).  They reminisce about the different paces taken by Jr. High boys  through puberty, and how uncomfortable mandatory showers were for the less hirsute.  Jeff then recalls the subtle interrogation techniques that our Dad so deftly utilized, and finally shares a story about a High School teacher who really made an impact on him. 

Cabin fever sets in during this worldwide quarantine, and Jeff and Rocky go free-association.  Topics range from stellar internet memes, magic eight balls, good-cop-bad-cop interrogation, and the fact that virtually any human conversation can eventually trigger a reference to an episode of Seinfeld.  Finally, they address the elephant in our collective quarantined room... Tiger King.

Jeff and Rocky remember a time before cell phones, when a single phone number served an entire household and was plagued by busy signals, tangling cords, rotary dials, and finicky push buttons.  But things weren't all bad... crank calling was much easier to get away with!  They then reflect on the 1983 NCAA Final Four Tournament, and the team known as Phi Slamma Jamma as their memory from the 80's!

Jeff and Rocky reflect on one of the greats, who left us today.  From his music, to his TV movies, to the cinematic gem - Six Pack - he played a major role in our formative years.  We will miss him.  Thank you Kenny.

Jeff, along with Rocky and Toby (Johnson?), reminisce on the genius that was, and is, Blazing Saddles!  Interestingly, they got to experience this movie very differently on two separate occasions.  First, as youngsters in the 70's, when they cracked up at the slapstick and absurdity, and then again as teen-agers in the 80's when they started to "get" some of the jokes and appreciate the social commentary!  It really was like seeing two different movies!  Apart from being arguably the greatest comedy film ever made, this movie makes us more aware than ever of the P.C. culture in which we now live.  It is hard to watch many of the scenes today because the modern lens that we look through can blind us to the satire as it was intended.  At first glance, Millennials may see it as the most racist and bigoted movie ever, but if they pay attention they will see that it may well be the LEAST racist and bigoted movie they could see. In it, racists and bigots are depicted as fools, and the real heroes are those who rise above that constraining world view!  We hope you enjoy listening this week, and that you will do yourself a favor and "whip out" that old Blazing Saddles DVD of yours for another viewing!   

In this time of voluntary self-quarantine, Jeff and Rocky reminisce about the glory that was a day off of school for an... um, minor illness.  From the cartoons, to the game shows, to the endless array of 50's-60's sitcoms on UHF, the day was a full one.  Add in the lunch, lovingly served by Mom, and then the regret you felt as the school bus returned and you saw your siblings and classmates heading out to play, and you deftly traverse the full range of human emotions.  Too bad those days had to end... or have they?  Next is a discussion about banking back in the day... pre ATMs, and let's just say Jeff was a HIGH ROLLER! In the final segment, the guys reach across the aisles to bring the boomers and the millennials into the fold, and begin a discussion on P.C. culture that is sure to unfold further in future episodes.  Pull up a chair, pour yourself a cocktail, and enjoy!
