Jeff and Rocky give a nod to the graduating class of 2020, whose lives began in the shadow of 9-11 and now take flight in the shadow of COVID 19.  They also recall their own graduation memories, including memories of the ensuing parties... when available.   

Jeff and Rocky reflect on their first jobs and that feeling of having some money in your pocket. What did you spend it on?  Music? Stereo equipment?  Dating?  Combine those together, and that equals... making a mix tape.  Added bonus:  Rocky's oldest son Taylor joins us, and discuss one of his first jobs.  Let's just say that his experience was not typical... at least we hope not.

Jeff and Rocky reflect on the glory that was a Saturday morning in the 70's, complete with a big bowl of cereal and a heaping helping of Saturday morning cartoons!  That's how we got our kicks... but you can keep the Kix!

As the podcast turns 21, Jeff and Rocky reflect on its life to date, and how quickly it has grown up.  They then recall efforts designed  to prevent them from engaging in undesirable activities in their own youths, with differing degrees of success.  Scared straight tactics, led by  a young Tom Hanks and Helen Hunt are considered, leading finally to a discussion of some fairly questionable toys from the olden days.

Jeff and Rocky discuss the work of filmmaker John Hughes, who basically defined our generation with movies like The Breakfast Club, Sixteen Candles, and Ferris Bueller's Day Off.  After a general discussion in segment one, they decide to tackle one movie in segment two... the Breakfast Club.  As usual, they make no claims of factual accuracy, but promise to tell the story the way they remember it!  Join us for a bunch of memories and a Cap'n Crunch and Pixy Stix sandwich, won't you?

Jeff and Rocky discuss the club scene in the 80's, which neither of them really partook in much.  Still it was a microcosm of all things eighties!  Jeff also recalls having to miss a family ski trip due to his failure to "make grades."  But all was not lost, what he got instead was just as good... or was it? And, through all of this discussion, Jeff struggles to come up with a catchphrase.

We all looked forward to special episodes of our favorite TV shows!  Maybe the characters took a trip, or were visited by characters from a different show.  Then, in the late seventies, the word "very" was added the "special episode" part, and the whole thing took a dark turn!  Jeff and Rocky discuss this phenomenon, and also discuss the series that dedicated itself to covering delicate topics for almost 25 years... the ABC After School Specials!

Jeff and Rocky interview long time friend, the ridiculously talented Larry Brantley!  They discuss his Facebook series "Live From The Quarantina" where he demonstrates the art of mixology with the heart of a teacher.  They free-form through numerous other topics, including Larry's extensive career in television and film!  The Quarantina, and Larry's availability to talk to us, are two positive things to come out of this crazy pandemic! Yes, we here at "Just Jeff... and friends" choose to see our cocktail glass as half full!

Jeff asks for hazard pay as an essential worker during the COVID pandemic.  They discuss television in the late seventies and early eighties and come up with a handy term to refer to that TV era.  Then the boys recall an early concert experience at the Summit in Houston, TX.  Why the band that opened for the headliner never got bigger than they did defies explanation!

Jeff, Rocky and Toby commiserate about how they will miss the dulcet tones of Mr. Jim Nance commentating from Augusta this weekend, but share their own memories from a "bucket list" Father/Sons trip to the 2013 Masters.
