Christian
talk show host Eric Metaxas felt
compelled to write the book Letter to the American Church.
After
having studied the German church during the Nazi era in his research
for his exceptional biography entitled Bonhoeffer: Pastor, Martyr, Prophet, Spy,
he was struck by the disturbing similarities with today’s American
church.
Guest
host Adam McManus
talks
with Metaxas who echoes Dietrich Bonhoeffer’s
prophetic call. The nationally syndicated talk show host exhorts Christians to repent of
their silence in the face of evil before it is too late. After all,
it was the brave Bonhoeffer who famously said, “Silence in the face
of evil is itself evil. Not to speak is to speak. Not to act is to
act. God will not hold us guiltless.”
Sadly,
when the American church saw the evil implemented by
Democratic Senator Lyndon Johnson of
Texas in 1954 through the Johnson Amendment,
it remained silent.
The church desperately needs
courage to speak up in the face of today’s evils of abortion, evolution,
euthanasia, sexual perversion, and the Left’s indoctrination of
children.
