Norman’s having twins—and the news opens up an honest conversation about becoming a father, confronting your childhood, and raising kids without passing down your own struggles.
In this GAMP retro, we get into the excitement and overwhelm of a growing family, the father-son moments we wish we’d had, and how becoming a parent changes the way you understand love. Norman and Aaron open up about self-sabotage, confidence, and the parts of themselves they hope their children never have to struggle with.
We also debate tough love, setting boundaries, protecting a child’s confidence, and balancing strength with vulnerability. How hard is too hard? When do you say no? And how do you build the kind of home you always wanted?
Plus: Spider-Man talk and spoilers, movie-theatre popcorn, family traditions, and a look back at our conversations with Harpreet, Manny, and Jeff Hunter—from grief and writing to digital entrepreneurship and single fatherhood.
💬 What’s one thing from your upbringing you want to carry forward—and one thing you want to change?

Another Get Alpha Retro episode, and this one goes in a few directions nobody expected.
Norman, Stacey and Aaron sit down for a wide open conversation about fitness, getting older, growing up, first jobs, personal training, music, break ins, Costco chaos and some of the memorable guests who have come through the Get Alpha Podcast.
Then Norman takes things in a completely different direction and tells the story of the private school he attended as a kid.
A school built on a compound. Teachers who were barely adults themselves. Singing groups, gymnastics, instruments, strict religious expectations and being told which movies they should and should not watch.
Looking back as an adult, Norman has a very different perspective on what was actually happening.
The crew also looks back at previous Get Alpha guests including young entrepreneurs, Taylor’s evolution into HYROX and Nicole Servinis, along with a preview of some of the conversations still coming this season.
As usual, it starts with one conversation and somehow ends up somewhere completely different.

What happens when you stop trying to fit the image and start owning who you are?

What starts as a conversation about TV shows, studio upgrades and past Get Alpha guests quickly turns into one of our most wide ranging Retro episodes yet.
Norman, Stacey and Aaron get into personal experiences with DMT, psychedelics, marijuana and alcohol, along with addiction, bad trips, growing up around drinking, and whether being open with your kids about drugs and alcohol is actually more effective than making everything taboo.
The conversation then shifts into free speech, cancel culture, political division, media bias and why it has become increasingly difficult to simply disagree with someone without turning them into the enemy.
They also look back at previous Get Alpha guests including Northern Hydration founders Alex and Sebastian Riedelsheimer, Lauren Hannah and Shane Griffin, discussing everything from entrepreneurship and social media to community involvement, personal transformation and what makes someone a great podcast guest.
Aaron also breaks down one of the biggest mistakes he sees small businesses make with their marketing: trying to promote everything they do instead of becoming known for one specific thing.
In this episode:
Personal experiences with DMT and psychedelics
Drugs, alcohol and addiction
Why mindset matters when talking about altered states
How parents should approach drinking and drugs with teenagers
The difference between education and simply telling kids "don't do it"
Growing up and partying in different generations
Free speech, cancel culture and controversial podcast guests
Why disagreement doesn't have to mean hate
Media bias and political echo chambers
Why small businesses need a focused marketing message
Northern Hydration's continued growth
Looking back at Lauren Hannah and Shane Griffin
The work that actually goes into producing a podcast
And a lot more.

What does it actually mean for a man to be vulnerable?
In this episode of the Get Alpha Podcast, we sit down with Connor and Dalton from the True Potential Podcast for an open conversation about male friendship, therapy, ambition, self worth, failure and what happens when the things that once motivated you stop working.
Connor and Dalton get candid about the friendship they have built, why men struggle to open up to other men and what it takes to create relationships where you can actually say, “I’m not okay today.”
We also get into the pressure to constantly achieve, imposter syndrome, quitting when something no longer fits, rebuilding after major life changes and the danger of using pain, insecurity and a chip on your shoulder as your primary source of motivation.
Dalton shares how the end of his engagement forced him to confront the way he viewed failure and himself. Connor talks about leaving his master’s program, his experience with therapy and learning to stop creating backup plans for the things he truly wants to pursue.
The conversation explores:
Male friendship and vulnerability
Why men struggle to talk about their emotions
Therapy and men’s mental health
Self worth and the feeling of never being enough
Imposter syndrome and fear of failure
Using pain as motivation
Success without constantly trying to prove yourself
Knowing when to quit versus when to keep pushing
Finding purpose and doing work that genuinely excites you
Building deeper friendships as an adult
Learning to enjoy life instead of constantly optimizing it
Connor and Dalton describe themselves as two average guys pursuing above average lives. This episode gets into what that really means and why becoming your best self may have less to do with pushing harder and more to do with understanding who you actually are.

This episode is a little bit of everything and a look back at some of the moments, guests, and conversations that have helped shape the Get Alpha Podcast.
Norman, Stacey, and Aaron get into the characters that make the gym what it is, the art of taking a joke, TV shows that knew when to end and the ones that definitely did not, Batman, football season, college sports, sports conspiracies, Jake Paul fights, and whether professional sports can ever truly stay untouched by money and gambling.
Then we go retro.
The crew looks back at some memorable Get Alpha guests, including the mindbending magician who showed how finding something you excel at can completely change your confidence, V Shah and her mission with Tooth Pod, and the unforgettable Chef Michael episode that somehow managed to combine restaurant chaos, entrepreneurship, family, and one of the wildest Betty White comments ever made on the show.
There are a lot of laughs in this one, but underneath it all is something that has become a big part of Get Alpha: interesting people, honest conversations, unexpected stories, and figuring out what drives people to keep building.
And we are getting closer to a huge milestone.

What happens when you book your dream role—only to have it taken away at the last moment?
Actor, director, martial artist, and action performer Taz “Tazito” Garcia joins Norman Burgos to reveal how losing a role on Power Rangers became the turning point that changed his career.
Instead of waiting for the industry’s permission, Taz began writing, directing, and producing his own projects. That decision eventually led him to work alongside Jackie Chan, Sylvester Stallone, John Cena, Brandon Routh, and Alan Ritchson on Reacher.
In this episode, Taz shares:
▶️ The heartbreaking story behind his Power Rangers recast
▶️ What filming a fight scene with Reacher’s Alan Ritchson was really like
▶️ The unseen skill required to make action heroes look powerful
▶️ Lessons in leadership and humility from Jackie Chan
▶️ Why rejection should be treated as a reality check—not a defeat
▶️ How martial arts taught him discipline, composure, and self-awareness
▶️ Why creating your own opportunities can change your career
▶️ The truth about passion, entrepreneurship, and the illusion of security
▶️ How he transformed childhood fear into fuel
▶️ His plans for a new martial arts reality competition
This conversation is about much more than movies and martial arts. It’s about refusing to live with “what if,” remaining ready for opportunity, and continuing forward when the original plan falls apart.
What’s one opportunity you would pursue if fear and rejection couldn’t stop you? Let us know in the comments.

Episode 79 gets started with bourbon and somehow ends up everywhere from why people seem to hate teachers to raising resilient kids, true crime home security tips, AI, fatherhood and some of our favourite conversations from past episodes.
We get into the reality of working in education, including the misconception that teachers simply work from 8 to 3, collect a big salary and enjoy their summers off. We talk about teachers spending their own money on classrooms, the education system versus the people working inside it, strikes, curriculum and the impact a great teacher can have on a kid who needs someone to believe in them.
Then the conversation shifts to parenting.
How much organized activity do kids actually need? Should every kid play a sport? Why is learning how to lose just as important as learning how to win? We talk outdoor education, letting kids play, physical resilience, competition, effort, attitude and why sometimes the best thing a parent can do is let their kid struggle long enough to figure something out.
Norman and Aaron also open up about fatherhood and those unexpected moments with their kids that can stop them in their tracks.
And because this is Get Alpha, things eventually go completely off the rails with childhood fights, questionable sibling behaviour, kids’ TV, horror movies, true crime and a very unfortunate conversation about putting a stick in the back door.
We also look back at some memorable Get Alpha guests, including Robbie’s transition from competition into fatherhood and coaching, Zach’s conversations about farming, food and masculinity, and Tevuan Smith’s transition from professional football into entrepreneurship, brain health and life beyond being an athlete.
Plus, Aaron and Norman get into Claude, ChatGPT, AI agents and where they think AI is headed next.
The 100th episode live show is getting closer.

Episode 78 of the Get Alpha Podcast starts with a weighted vest being mistaken for body armour and somehow ends up in a much bigger conversation about parenting, technology, masculinity, vulnerability, and what the next generation is learning from us.
Norman and Stacy get into how much screen time is too much, when kids should actually get their first phone, why some children struggle to function without a screen, and whether parents are sometimes using technology as a substitute for setting boundaries.
Stacy brings her perspective as a teacher, including what she sees happening with kids who have unlimited access to phones, gaming, and technology. The conversation also raises a bigger question: if you want your children to behave differently, should you start by looking at the example you’re setting yourself?
Then things take another turn.
Can men actually be vulnerable without changing how women see them? Do women really want emotionally vulnerable men, or is there still an expectation that men remain strong and stable when things get difficult?
Norman, Stacy, and Aaron don’t completely agree, which makes for a conversation about emotional intelligence, relationships, masculinity, communication, and the importance of men having other men they can actually talk to.
Plus, road rage, terrible road trip partners, sleepwalking, midnight cheesecake, Toy Story, the return of football, and a look back at some memorable Get Alpha Podcast guests.
And we’re officially on the road to Episode 100.
