Today is the last of our 10-week tribute to Lucille Fletcher, and we are featuring one of her last original radio scripts. Don Ramlow joins John one final time to discuss this is a hidden gem from the radio writer, about a woman whose obsession leads her down a dark path of mind games. It features an incredible and uncomfortable performance by Nancy Kelly. We also feature a rare radio interview with Lucille Fletcher.
Don mentioned the presentation about Parley Baer at MANC -- it can be accessed at https://sites.google.com/view/parley-baer-manc-2022/home

Another uncirculated episode of It Pays To Be Ignorant today from August 11, 1944. This zany, quick-talking joke-fest features a veteran vaudeville troupe headed up by Tom Howard as the quiz master, and George Shelton, Lulu McConnell, and Harry McNaughton as the crazy panelists in this satire of popular game shows of the era.

If you know what was popular during the 1940s and '50s, it's especially baffling to think how comedian Henry Morgan ever got a chance to make this show. We are headed back to the post-War United States to hear a commentary on The Mikado, a visit to the town of "Cornpone", and a romantic adventure called, "Is Morgan Really Dead?"

After several weeks of incredibly intense Thursday podcasts, we are taking a breather today with this light offering from The CBS Radio Workshop. This is the Cinderella story as we all have heard it. But it's also the Cinderella story as no one has ever heard it. Vincent Price and Lurlene Tuttle exchange barbs as opposing storytellers in this amusing program from the mid-1950s.

We take a momentary pause from Suspense today to showcase the Mercury Summer Theater, which came several years after the famous Mercury Theater left the air. In 1945, ventriloquist Edgar Bergen, who had one of the top radio comedy programs on the air, left Hollywood to spend a few weeks in New York. While broadcasting his show there, he and New York comedian Fred Allen took turns guest appearing on each others' shows. Today we have a fun double-bill, a Edgar Bergen Show with guest Fred Allen, and a Fred Allen show guest starring Edgar Bergen.

Today Writer Lucille Fletcher’s knack for writing gothic period dramas, and her former experience as a music critic, comes together for one of her best and most eerie plays. Her association with Suspense continues with a story of a whirlwind relationship with a curious young woman (played by Ida Lupino) and a grieving music-obsessed organist (Vincent Price), his two children, and the mysterious death of his wife that overshadows them.
