In the second installment of The Greatest October in the History of Forever, Zach and Matt passionately defend the under appreciated horror-comedy Jennifer's Body, the film's star Megan Fox and it's writer, Diablo Cody. If only they showed this kind of enthusiasm in aspects of their lives that actually mattered... Anyway, it's another hilarious episode of the show that we're sure you'll love!
The first episode of The Greatest October in the History of Forever is a doozy! We jump back into the audio commentary game and discuss the much-maligned Book of Shadows: Blair Witch 2, quite possibly the worst sequel ever made (probably not, but it's fun to throw that out there).
In the third and final chapter of our epic True Detective series, we take aim at Marty's family and the effect a case like this can have on society at large. We then review the final two episodes of season one and decide whether the conclusion was a disappointment or if viewers at the time were looking for something they were never going to find. Finally, we discuss a couple of the wild fan theories that were out there during the show's run, the failure of season 2 and whether or not there should be another season in the future.
We're back with part 2 of our discussion on HBO's True Detective and we jammed a lot into this hour. First, we discuss the use of pagan symbolism mythology throughout the first season of the show and it's origins in "weird fiction." We also recap the middle portion of the season and give our thoughts on the effects of this investigation on our protagonists, Hart & Cohle. Finally, Matt gives us some background information on a real life story that shares some similarities with the dark underbelly of True Detective, season 1.
Get ready for a long walk into the darkness, as The Greatest Moments in the History of Forever tackles one of television's most talked about shows, True Detective. Buckle up, friends, as this is just the first of a three part series that will break down symbolism, themes, great nude scenes, very fine acting, atmosphere, wild theories, conspiracies, cover-ups and so much more. We barely skim the surface in part one!
This week, we analyze modern love... honest, brutal, often messy love, as we discuss Closer. We also ask ourselves what kind of monster could ever hurt Natalie Portman? In addition to our regular movie talk, we once again get into the world of music as we share our love of Blink-182, going through the band's history and offering our opinions on their latest album and line-up change.
For some reason, we decided to try our hand at discussing professional wrestling once again and we couldn't think of any topic better than the rise (and subsequent fall) of the New World Order. This Summer marked the 20th anniversary of perhaps the biggest and most influential storyline in wrestling history, ignited by Scott Hall, when he walked off of WWF television and onto WCW programming the next week. Listen along as we discuss the angle that set off the infamous Monday Night Wars between pro wrestling's two biggest companies and try to figure out what went wrong for WCW in the end.
Hey folks, what can we say? We're idiots. There are (yet again) a few minutes of technical difficulties about halfway through this episode. We don't know what we're doing. Hopefully, we can get this figured out some time before episode 100. Anyway, this week we bring you the uplifting story of 5 teenage sisters who commit suicide and the obsessive boys left in their wake. Beautiful and haunting, Sofia Coppola's debut film, The Virgin Suicides remains as enigmatic and bold as it was when it was released 17 years ago. This is our sad, little take on it.
Yep folks, you read the title right! We're dipping our toes into the wonderful, oft-maligned world of audio commentaries! And what better film to debut with than the Amanda Bynes vehicle, She's The Man? It's the traditional girl pretending to be a boy who then falls in love with an actual boy who is already in love with a different girl who then falls in love with the girl pretending to be a boy story. Got that? It doesn't matter... Anyway, join us as we watch this forgotten and mostly hated teen romp and add our little tidbits of wisdom to the proceedings. By the way, YOU TOTALLY DO NOT NEED TO ACTUALLY WATCH THE FILM WHILE LISTENING TO THIS PODCAST, but it might be fun to try it if you are so inclined. And don't worry, back to the original formula for the pod next time.
