This week, inside my therapy room, a powerful theme kept emerging.

I sat with people from completely different backgrounds and walks of life, all processing the same kind of relational wound.

They had just survived a brutal season — a sudden health crisis, financial collapse, heartbreak, loss, or a complete upheaval of life as they knew it.

And when the storm hit, something painful happened.

Lee’s journey into therapy began while working in drugand alcohol recovery, where he witnessed the compassion and skill ofcounsellors helping people navigate profound change. That experience planted aseed that eventually led him to train as a therapist.

Lee began his counselling training in 2017 and has beenpractising professionally since 2021. He works integratively with men, drawingon counselling, CBT, and EMDR, and is particularly passionate about supportingmen through baby loss — an area he believes is still too often overlooked.

Bringing both professional training and lived experienceinto his work, Lee understands how isolating these struggles can be. Havingexperienced OCD from childhood and later the devastating loss of his baby son,Ray, he speaks openly about the impact of grief and the importance of givingmen space to process it.

There Is a Light Therapy is named afterthe first song Lee listened to following Ray’s death — a reminder that nomatter how dark life may feel, there is always some light somewhere.

Lee holds a Diploma in Person-Centred Counselling, aPostgraduate Certificate in CBT, and has completed EMDR Europe training. Histherapeutic approach is warm, grounded, and trauma-informed. He works at hisclients’ pace, creating a safe space where meaningful change can happen.

Today, in The Green Room Podcast, I’m joined by Eddie,

a single father of two, a man whose life has been built around discipline, resilience, and responsibility.

To many, Eddie was the joker of the group, the one who lifted the mood, carried the energy, and supported everyone else. But behind that humour was a man carrying far more than most people realised.

As a single father, Eddie held himself to a high standard. Strong mindset. Structured routine. Fitness. Providing. Protecting. Fixing. And like many men, he became a supporter in everyone else’s life while quietly suppressing his own struggles.

Over time, that weight built up. The pressure to hold it together. The need to be strong. The belief that asking for help meant weakness.

On October 28th, 2025, everything shifted. Eddie experienced a transient ischaemic attack — a TIA. What initially felt unreal, something he tried to deny, was later attributed to chronic stress. It became a wake-up call.

In a moment that surprised even him, Eddie publicly shared what had happened on Facebook.

After years of shutting down emotionally, he opened up and was met with overwhelming support from friends, past and present. Through recovery, Eddie discovered something powerful: Talking heals.

He began documenting his journey on TikTok @eddie.beeley — sharing life after a TIA, his return to training, and creating space for fathers and trauma survivors to speak openly rather than carry it alone. Today, his focus is on grounded presence. Consistency. Honest conversations about masculinity, fatherhood, recovery, and mental health without hype, without preaching, and without trying to save anyone. Just steady. Just strong. Just real.
