I’m a marketing professional and talent manager with a passion for marketing, sales, the beauty industry, and the creator/brand space. I got really lucky during my senior year at the University of Alabama and secured a job in the beauty industry before graduating. I’m incredibly grateful for my career because I get to do work that I genuinely love while continuing to grow professionally. I also work in talent management, where I get to see the behind-the-scenes relationship between influencers and brands and negotiate partnerships for my creators.

A huge part of my story is moving to Dallas completely on my own after graduation. Being in a brand-new city as a single woman and having to build a life, friendships, and career from scratch has been challenging at times, especially while navigating anxiety, but it has also been one of the most rewarding experiences of my life. Moving away from my hometown really pushed me outside of my comfort zone and shaped me into the woman I am today. I’ve learned a lot about independence, making a name for myself, and creating a life that is truly my own.

It's easy to get caught up in chaos - we become addicted to stimulation and stress in today's society and culture. Maybe it's OKAY to not sub-comb to "hustle culture," stop trying to ALWAYS do more, and learn to be content with what is. "Boring" can be peaceful.

 Background: Jessica has her Master’s in Health Education, Bachelor’s in Journalism and Nutrition. She started out in journalism (lifestyle and food writing). She worked for media companies, newspapers, public libraries and trade magazines while nannying to make ends meet before deciding to pivot to health teaching. She got her masters at 30 and began my teaching career. She left teaching at 37 and decided to jump back into journalism after being out of the business for over a decade.

Presently, she is a food writer at Parade covering Trader Joes, Costco and viral food trends; she is the editor of four local Chicago suburb magazines; and works for Pod People, doing post-production work on The 10% Happier Podcast with Dan Harris and unPAUSED with Dr. Mary Claire Haver.
