On episode 71, we share my DesignerCon 2018 conversation with freelance pencil artist, Lenny Romero (Lenzations)!
A former business major and collegiate wrestler, this self taught artist loves the meticulous nature of his medium…some of his pieces can take up to three months to complete!
We first met him at Stan Lee's Comikaze 2015 and each time we seem him is like the first time. We're always blown away by his Godzilla and kaiju related pencil artwork,
On this episode, he gives some good advice for interacting and communicating with potential customers at a convention and he also talks about the value of being patient.
He'll be making an appearance for the first time ever at Artists Alley table EE-05 at San Diego Comic-Con 2019, so please make sure to go check him out!

Speaking of conventions, I will be on the "Heroes at the Mic" pop culture podcasting panel at San Diego Comic-Con 2019! It will take place at 4pm on Friday, July 19 at the Neil Morgan Auditorium at the San Diego Central Library, which is a short walk from the convention center…so hope to see some of you there!
Hey there fellow nerds and geeks, thank you so much for tuning into the Hall H Show podcast! Aaron Nabus here and along with my co-host, Alex Benedicto, we are the voice of independent creators!
On episode 70, we share my WonderCon 2019 conversation with three friends, James Merrill, John Kimpson and Michael Scott, who all came together to realize their dream of creating comic books.
Forming Thing-a-majig Studios they intend to explore new ways of telling stories and rich experiences in drama, action, adventure, and sci-fi. In short, they want to deliver "Entertainment for Your Imagination."
I got a chance to meet them earlier this year at Black Comix Day 2019 which was held in San Diego, CA and was organized by Keithan Jones, from KID Comics.
When I heard that they were going to be at WonderCon, I thought it would be a good opportunity to get to know them a bit better and talk about their comic book, Me & Mr. Jones. The illustrations look incredible and I could see this being adapted into a cartoon!
We cover comic books, movies, anime, diversity and more, so please enjoy my conversation with Thing-a-majig Studios!
For episode 69, I got a chance to chat with someone that I'm a huge fan of. He has also been on the podcast previously all the way back on episode 8 (along with his wife and Jupiter Jet co-creator, Ashley Victoria Robinson), Jason Inman!
Both Jason and Ashley are also hosts of not only one of my favorite geek and pop culture podcasts...but one of my favorite podcasts overall, Geek History Lesson!
Jason recently wrote his first non-fiction book, Super Soldiers: A Salute to the Comic Book Heroes and Villains Who Fought for Their Country and like Geek History Lesson, not only was I fully entertained, but I learned something too! He covered sixteen soldiers, some that I knew about like Captain America, some that I didn't, like Gravedigger and some I was surprised to find, like Beetle Bailey.
While I Ioved learning about each character's military perspective and the reflection of society in each of their respective times in history, perhaps what I loved even more are Jason's personal anecdotes of his own U.S. Army experiences in the Iraq. There are some very heartfelt moments in this book!
Super Soldiers is available now for purchase (there is a Kindle and paperback version) on Amazon and if you will be in the Los Angeles, CA area on Saturday, June 22, 2019 from 11am to 12:30pm, he will be doing a book signing at Earth 2 Comics in Sherman Oaks.
I hope you enjoy my conversation with Jason Inman!

Aaron Nabus here and thanks for tuning into the Hall H Show, the voice of independent creators!
What does someone who suffers from massive overthinking do when challenged to do something crazy like give 61 hugs to 61 random people?
This was the premise for an incredible short movie that I watched at this year's International Mobile Film Festival that was created by CK Goldiing, an artist and presenter from Sheffield, England.
CK filmed himself walking around Sheffield, asking complete strangers for a hug, all in one take!
His viral video, 61 Hugs, is a fascinating social experiment that showcases how someone terrified by the potential rejections, forges on ahead anyway with the winds of spontaneity, optimism, goodwill and human spirit at his back.
61 Hugs challenges CK's long-standing belief that "overthinking is the enemy of remarkable." I smile each time I think about this remarkable film.
Please enjoy my conversation with CK Golding, which almost didn't happen!
But in true CK fashion, the randomness of the universe had other plans for us.
Enjoy!
Aaron Nabus here and thanks for tuning into the Hall H Show!
For episode 67, we continue with our focus on independent filmmakers. At WonderCon 2019, in Anaheim, CA, I got a chance to have a pretty cool conversation with the creative development team behind Carmina (currently in production), the first movie from the anthology series, The Tales From Midnight:
From The Tales From Midnight: Carmina press kit:
Mark is Primetime Emmy® Award Winning Visual Effects Artist & Supervisor and filmmaker best known for his work on Fox's hit show, Gotham.
Erica is an international actress, writer and model working between Bali, LA, and Manila. She has been featured in TV shows such as Gang Related, Bones, NCIS LA, 90210, Legit, Parks and Recreation, Baby Daddy, and The Comeback.
Jomari is a Co-Founder and Executive Director (Emeritus) of the Filipino American Chamber of Commerce, Greater LA. He has also served on several non-profit boards, including FilamARTS, the Association for the Advancement of Philippine Arts and Culture.
Carmina is a fantasy drama that tells the story of a young woman played by Erica Juliet who discovers that she's always had the power to fight back against her demons.
The character's demons are under the guise of issues faced by an undocumented immigrant suffering from domestic abuse.
The narrative and visual framework of Carmina comes from a mixed Filipino American background with a character that lives in a small and conservative town in Middle America contrasted by the character's cultural heritage which happens to involve a "diwata" from Philippine mythology. This mythological character will be played by Filipino Actress Geneva Cruz.
Please enjoy my conversation with team behind Carmina, Mark, Erica and Joe!
Hey there Hall H Show listeners!
Aaron Nabus here and on this episode, we're joined by the talented actor, singer and director, Kaitlyn Fae!
We talk about her current film project, a short that she is executive producing and directing called Fruit Fly. In fact, before we met up with her at a Starbucks in West Hollywood, CA, she had just finished wrapping up a round of auditions for a few of the roles in Fruit Fly.
Fruit Fly is about a young woman named Jules who develops a thing for gay men after her seventh grade boyfriend leaves her for another girl. The movie follows her journey throughout middle school, high school, and college as she goes from one friendzone disaster to the next.
I had so fun getting to know Kaitlyn and hope to have her back on the Hall H Show in the near future. Can't wait to watch Fruit Fly! Enjoy!
Check out the crowdfunding page for her movie here.
Aaron Nabus here and on this episode of the Hall H Show podcast, we're joined by one of my favorite comic book creators, the writer and co-creator of Spencer and Locke, David Pepose! Spencer and Locke is also drawn and co-created by Jorge Santiago Jr.
We last had David on the podcast back in episode 22 which was recorded at San Diego Comic-Con 2017.
We've kept in touch and and I've seen him at events and panels that our friend, Rylend Grant has organized.
I love Spencer and Locke and its tagline, "What if Calvin and Hobbes grew up in Sin City?"
I also love and appreciate that David took some time out of his busy schedule today to not only talk about Spencer and Locke 2, which hits stores on 5/1/19, but also his other book that he is working on, Going to the Chapel.
Welcome back to the show, David!
At WonderCon 2019, I was originally supposed to talk with my good friend and multiple guest of the show, screenwriter and comic book creator, Rylend Grant to talk about the second arc of his current comic book, Aberrant and his new one, called Banjax, both of which are published by Action Lab.
It was a welcome surprise to see Steven Prince, the writer, artist and creator of Rylend's favorite comic book, Monster Matador, show up to the podcast too with Rylend!
Turns out, they collaborated on something called Tales From the World of Monster Matador.
It was an interesting conversation, hearing about how Steven is more of an improvisational writer whereas Rylend is more structured, but they were still able to find a unified voice.
We also talk about building a fanbase, different approaches to comic publishing, the importance of the Meltdown Comics community and more! ~Aaron
On this episode, we welcome back our good friend, Susy Botello, founder of the International Mobile Film Festival to talk about this year's festival, which takes place April 27 and 28, 2019 at the Marina Village in San Diego, CA.
We also welcome a filmmaker that we met at last year's festival, Seth Dacio! He submitted another film for 2019, which was accepted, so we thought it would be fun to have him on to share his thoughts on the festival and the growing smartphone film movement.
We hope to see some of you at the 2019 International Mobile Film Festival. For tickets and more information, please check out InternationalMobileFilmFestival.com or SBP.cc.
Shout out to Beau Machado, who runs the Altered Ego Cafe and Hideout inside SoCal Comics in San Diego, CA for letting us record the podcast there and also for the awesome coffee!
Also, a shout out to you, our faithful listener for continuing to support our efforts to be the voice of independent creators for people like our guests for this episode, filmmakers Susy Botello and Seth Dacio! Enjoy!
