This topic is near and dear to my heart because in my job as nurse I take those who suffering with ERSD. End stage retail Failure. We neglect our kidneys.
Lets talk about what kidneys do for you. The kidneys are two bean-shaped organs, each about the size of a fist. They are located just below the rib cage, one on each side of your spine. ... Your kidneys, ureters, and bladder are part of your urinary tract. You have two kidneysthat filter your blood, removing wastes and extra water to make urine.
The kidneys process about 200 liters of blood every day and produce about 2 liters of urine. The waste products are generated from normal metabolic processes including the breakdown of active tissues, ingested foods, and other substances. The kidneys allow consumption of a variety of foods, drugs, vitamins, dietary and herbal supplements, food additives, and excess fluids without worry that toxic by-products will build up to harmful levels. The kidney also plays a major role in regulating levels of various minerals such as calcium, sodium, and potassium in the blood.
Signs and symptoms of chronic kidney disease include:
- need to urinate frequently, especially at night (nocturia);
swelling of the legs and puffiness around the eyes (fluid retention);high blood pressure;fatigue and weakness (from anemia or accumulation of waste products in the body);loss of appetite, nausea and vomiting;itching, easy bruising, and pale skin (from anemia);shortness of breath from fluid accumulation in the lungs;headaches, numbness in the feet or hands (peripheral neuropathy), disturbed sleep, altered mental status (encephalopathy from the accumulation of waste products or uremic poisons), and restless legs syndromeslow progressive damage to kidneys you don't have many systems to know this going on with your kidneys.
CKD is common among adults in the United States. More than 30 million American adults may have CKD
Diabetes is the leading cause of CKD. High blood glucose, also called blood sugar, from diabetes can damage the blood vessels in your kidneys. Almost 1 in 3 people with diabetes has CKD.
Inflammation is the response of the vasculature or tissues to various stimuli. An acute and chronic pro-inflammatory state exists in patients with chronic kidney disease (CKD), contributing substantially to morbidity and mortality. There are many mediators of inflammation in adults with CKD and end-stage kidney disease (ESKD), including hypoalbuminemia/malnutrition, atherosclerosis, advanced oxidation protein products.
We as whole me included do not drink enough water. We drink soda, coffee tea but not enough water.
Dehydration can cause a build-up of wastes and acids in the body, and it can clog the kidneys with muscle proteins (myoglobin). All these things can hurt the kidneys. Dehydration can also contribute to the formation of kidney stones and urinary tract infections, both of which can lead to kidney damage if not treated quickly. Kidney stones form less easily when you have enough water to prevent stone-forming crystals from sticking together.
You might also consider foods that harmful, white sugar, white flour, processed foods in box or can. Yes we have all eaten them but they cause damage to kidney.
