The Pierce Brothers’ horror film THE WRETCHED opened in drive-in theaters on May 1st 2020 by IFC Midnight and was the #1 movie in the US for six consecutive weekends, making it the first film to hold that record since the release of AVATAR in 2009. At a time when thousands of theaters were shut down, major news outlets churned out headlines that credited Brett & Drew’s film as “forever redefining how we measure box office success” (Forbes) and “leading the drive-in resurge” (Variety). The film is now available to stream on Netflix where it is currently ranked in the Top 10 Most Watched Films in the U.S and continues to release internationally.

New Mexico native and multi-hyphenate, Helena Hawkes is a jack of all trades. Through her keen understanding of writing, directing, poetry and painting, she entrenches her readers in tonally rich worlds typically centered around the macabre. It’s no surprise that her talent has attracted the attention of some of Hollywood’s horror greats; Jason Blum - who has taken her under his tutelage on the producing front - and Leigh Whannell - who she has the honor of calling her writing and directing mentor.
