  • IBG 40 – Kamila Gornia – Marketing What Makes You Different

Shownotes and links for this episode can be found at http://sarahsantacroce.com/episode40

At times, introverts feel pressured to act like extroverts for the sake of acceptance. But Kamila Gornia argues that owning what makes you different and marketing those unique qualities provide the key to creating a successful, sustainable business.

Kamila moved to the US from Poland at the age of 13. Desperate to assimilate, she hid the pieces of herself that were not ‘normal,’ and made some poor choices in the name of acceptance and approval. Her introverted tendency to hide and do her own thing pushed against her need to be liked, and Kamila struggled. She started to find her way back to herself in young adulthood as her entrepreneurial spirit led her to start her own photography business as well as a health blog.

Through those projects, Kamila began to recognize her natural affinity for marketing and eventually started her own coaching business. Today she is the Blow Up, Scale Up marketing strategist who helps entrepreneurs grow their businesses and become online leaders. She is passionate about teaching her clients and community how to leverage their own natural abilities and personalities into strategic marketing campaigns.

On this episode, Kamila explains how she generates income via a diverse array of revenue streams. She speaks to the benefits of being curious and self-aware and the risk around getting too comfortable with being alone. Listen in to learn about the email marketing tools available to online entrepreneurs and how to own your uniqueness and build a thriving business!

  • IBG 39 – Gavin Zuchlinkski – Showing the Face Behind the Product

Shownotes and links for this episode can be found at http://sarahsantacroce.com/episode39

Gavin Zuchlinkski was perfectly happy to put his head down and build the product that became Acuity Scheduling. Like most introverted entrepreneurs, Gavin didn’t feel a need to build his personal brand or seek external validation, so he spent his time early on focused on perfecting the product itself. But now that Acuity has grown to support over 50,000 businesses of all sizes, Gavin is stepping into the spotlight as the human face behind the product. Gavin built the scheduling tool in 2006 to save his mom a little time. She was frustrated by the hassle of dealing with appointments for her massage therapy business, so Gavin created Acuity to save her the headache, automating the process by allowing clients to schedule themselves online. The app grew organically as other small businesses got on board, and by 2009, Gavin realized that Acuity was big enough to be his day job. He quit a career he enjoyed at Berico Technologies to devote his energy to Acuity full-time, with the goal of providing unmatched, one-on-one customer support to clients. Today Gavin explains how Acuity Scheduling allows businesses to offer and manage appointments online, freeing them up to focus on doing what they love. He shares how his ability to be happy in the moment keeps him from being consumed by the business and why he is an advocate of the six-hour workday. Listen in and learn how being ‘media shy’ actually served him well in the early stages of Acuity and how he ensures that his time spent making public appearances is genuinely valuable!

  • IBG 38 –Thea Orozco – Developing an Online Presence Your Way with Introvertology

Want to learn how to pitch like a pro? Join our 7-Day 'Pitching for Introverts' training at http://www.sarahsantacroce.com/pitching

So many aspects of online entrepreneurship make it particularly suited to the introverted personality, save one—self-promotion. As comfortable and confident as we are with working on our own, we tend to be somewhat uncomfortable and insecure when it comes to putting ourselves out there with an online presence. Thea Orozco is on a mission to help introverted entrepreneurs believe in their worth and coach them to show up on social media, again and again.

Thea got into the social media marketing game early, creating a MySpace page for her family’s yarn business ten years ago. As her entrepreneurial journey continued, Thea took advantage of social media to promote her own ventures, including an Etsy store and a life coaching business. Four years ago, Thea took note of several online conversations in which apparent introverts seemed to be unaware of their introversion and think they were broken in some way. She started the Introvertology Facebook group and Twitter accounts in response, to raise awareness about introversion and encourage introverts to leverage their strengths. 10,000 likes in, Thea realized she was on to something.

At the suggestion of her own life coach, Thea eventually niched down to her current role as a visibility advisor for introverts, creating custom digital marketing strategies for her clients. She is passionate about helping her fellow introverts grow their businesses and make an impact—in a way that feels natural. Today Thea shares the importance of mindset for introverts in developing an online presence, how she leverages the introverted inclination to be a natural observer, and how she has learned to separate her self-esteem from online reaction (or lack thereof) to her posts. Listen in to understand the role fear plays in our creative lives and why Thea suggests we go toward the fear!

Shownotes and links for this episode can be found at http://sarahsantacroce.com/episode36

Though it can be difficult for introverts to pitch themselves, today’s guest argues that hiring someone else to talk to your customers just isn’t the same as making that connection yourself. In fact, he has made a business out of teaching entrepreneurs and startups how to gain traffic, exposure and publicity via relationships—with journalists, influencers and bloggers who have access to your audience.

Dmitry Dragilev is a self-proclaimed computer science nerd who worked for a series of ‘boring, huge companies’ before decided that there was more to life than the corporate ladder. In a bold move, he quit his lucrative job and headed to California for graduate school and a shot at learning from the startups in Silicon Valley.

This plan served Dmitry well, as he helped grow a startup from zero to 40 million page views very quickly by way of PR outreach. His savvy in this arena led Dmitry to start his own SaaS, Just Reach Out, in early 2016. Now his software is used by 4,000-plus startups and small businesses as well as big names like Airbnb and HubSpot. He shares his expertise in securing press coverage through the site Criminally Prolific and his coaching program, PR That Converts. Today he discusses his motivation for becoming an introverted entrepreneur, how his drive helped him overcome the fear of rejection, and why talking to customers is difficult to outsource. Listen as he explains that value of living in the moment and his strategies for gaining control of his time and becoming more productive in the process.

There is a preconceived notion that we introverts are shy, but today’s guest isn’t buying it. Instead, she believes that as thoughtful, depth-driven individuals, we simply need a safe space to share our ideas and a gentle nudge to take action.

Though not an introvert herself, Reina Pomeroy, the owner and founder of Reina + Co, considers herself an introverts’ ally. A trained social worker and MBTI expert, she is on a mission to bust the myth that the first person to raise their hand has the best answer. Reina is a Certified Professional Co-Active Coach and co-host of the Creative Empire Podcast. She seeks to help her clients stop spinning their wheels and take action on what’s most important. Her work has been featured in Entrepreneur on Fire, Entrepreneur.com, Brit + Co, The Huffington Post, Honeybrook, The Rising Tide Society and Best Friends for Frosting. Shownotes and links for this episode can be found at http://sarahsantacroce.com/episode34

Acting as the public face of your company can be intimidating for us introverted entrepreneurs. Add the prospect of speaking to your audience in a live setting and many of us start running in the opposite direction! But social media does afford an incredible opportunity to grow your audience, and we know that it’s good business sense to take advantage of new live streaming technology to connect with clients. Today’s guest is an authority in the world of live streaming – he has designed a live video system for the band Radiohead – and he just happens to be a fellow introvert.

James Wasem’s interest in sound and electricity combined with his love of music and technical gear led to a career in sound engineering and systems integration. He has 20-plus years of experience designing and installing audio systems, mixing live sound for churches and theatres, and performing and touring with bands as a drummer. Though James has a highly technical understanding of sound engineering, his strength lies in making these concepts simple and easy to understand.

James’ current businesses were born from this ability to streamline complex live sound and live streaming processes. He is the Co-Founder and Technical Director of Gigee.me, a live online event service for independent artists and musicians, and the author of several books and video training courses around sound design and live streaming. He is on a mission to help creative entrepreneurs get comfortable with live streaming and employ it as a marketing strategy to jumpstart their businesses. Today he shares his own hesitance to adopt social media marketing strategies, the low-risk ways to get started with live streaming, and his authentic approach to streaming that connects with an audience.

    What is your time worth?

Entrepreneurs who are just getting up and running face difficult decisions in determining how much to charge for their products and services. How exactly do you put a dollar amount on the expertise you provide clients? Then once you have settled on packages and pricing, it's time to decide whether to publish those prices on your website. You don't want to scare people away, nor do you want to waste precious time with people who aren't willing to compensate you appropriately.

Welcome to another 'unplugged' edition of the Introvert Biz Growth Podcast! Today I am prepared to discuss the complex issue of pricing, and while I don't profess to have all the answers, I can offer insight into the level of value you can offer through one-on-one consulting, group coaching, and products like video courses. Listen in to learn about the role confidence plays in pricing, why time is your most valuable commodity, and when it might be appropriate to publish your prices online. Calling all introverts: It's time to start earning the income you deserve!

  • IBG 32 - Faris Khalifeh – Managing Your Energy as an Introvert

Shownotes and links for this episode can be found at http://sarahsantacroce.com/episode32

Energy management can be a particular challenge for the introverted entrepreneur, especially those of us who lead trainings and workshops. Yes, it is important to share our message with the world and support fellow introverts in a public setting, but it can certainly take a toll on our energy. Today’s guest implements a daily meditation practice to facilitate energy management, and he is prepared to share how his pursuit for a quiet mind allows him to renew his energy resources.

Faris Khalifeh began his career in the corporate world, doing marketing and business development for a diverse client base, from startups to Fortune 500 companies. But after nine years in the space, Faris was uninspired and looking for a change. In the process of self-reflection, he realized that the vast majority of the books in his private library dealt with personal growth and development, and he made the decision to pursue a coaching certification and make the switch to entrepreneurship.

Now Faris is a Quiet Leadership Coach, and a highly regarded one at that – he was named among the Top Six Life Coaches in Vancouver by Crowd Wellness. He serves on the board of directors for the International Coach Federation, and he leads the Vancouver Quiet Leadership Meetup, the only leadership group dedicated to introverts in British Columbia. Today he shares his passion for connecting people, the pros and cons of having harmony as a strength, and how understanding his introversion changed Faris’ life. Listen and learn how he developed the corporate training component of his business model and how he renews depleted energy resources through meditation.

  • IBG 31 - Nicole Holland – Building Authentic Relationships Online

Shownotes and links for this episode can be found at http://sarahsantacroce.com/episode31

Being a good listener is part of our introverted DNA. Most of us have a knack for making people feel valued and understood as we develop deep one-on-one relationships with others, be it online or in person. Today’s guest considers this ability to build authentic relationships quickly to be her introverted superpower, as her genuine interest in others allows her to establish sincere connections and grow her business. Nicole Holland was working as a corrections officer when she started to feel truly miserable. Her health suffered, and a lupus diagnosis made it difficult to breath and walk. Motivated to build an online business that would allow her to stay home, Nicole quit her job at the end of 2014 and did just that. The business has evolved many times since then, and her current focus is Podcast Guesting. She specializes in helping successful business owners and CEOs spread their message and increase brand recognition via podcast appearances. Nicole was named one of the 50 Must-Follow Women Entrepreneurs in 2017 by Huffington Post, alongside powerhouses Marie Forleo, Amy Porterfield and Danielle LaPorte. She is the host of the Business Building Rockstars Podcast and creator of the affiliated annual summit. Today she shares the advantages and disadvantages of her commitment to building authentic relationships, how she has learned to prioritize actions that result in profit, and how she leverages flow to attract success. Listen in to understand the evolution of her business, the podcast booking services she offers, and how her desire to connect with other online entrepreneurs grew into the Business Building Rockstars Summit.
