On this week’s episode of The I in Us, Cody and Paul welcomed to the JOY airwaves, Cameroonian intersex advocate, Claude Batle. Claude dialled in all the way from rural Cameroon, which has added even more flavour to this inspiring episode.
Claude was raised as a female until his male characteristics emerged. This lead to oppression, humiliation, physical attacks, accusations of witchcraft and social ostracization that impacted much of his life. However, Claude didn’t let these terrible experiences hold him back. In fact, these negative experiences made him more determined to create something truly positive. He has become a father, a passionate intersex advocate, and in 2012, founded Intersex Cameroon. So, Claude, through his hard work and determination, has become some-one to be really admired.
