The Ian Furness Show

The NFC West rivalry between the Hawks and Niners is back. Maybe it never left, but there's no question that it has ramped up in a hurry. The Niners are currently in first place in the division, coming into Seattle, where they haven't won since 2011, to play a Week 17 game in prime time where the Hawks have dominated. Just like old times, they're going to have to deal with Pete Carroll, Russell Wilson, Bobby Wagner, KJ Wright, oh yeah, and Marshawn Lynch is back too. Make no mistake though, Seattle is a shell of itself. So do they have enough to defeat San Francisco and win the division. We find out from Greg Cosell of NFL Films and NFL Matchup who previews the game. Tomorrow afternoon at French Field in Kent, it's Cleats vs. Cancer as local football players raise money to help fight childhood cancer. We talk with Derek Sparks about the event.

Marshawn Lynch is back, and it isn't just the team feeling energized by his presence. Ian Rapoport discusses the Marshawn Lynch phenomenon, and what he brings to the locker room, plus thoughts on open coaching positions around the league, and more. This is the weekend for the big bowl games, and Rob Rang tells us who to watch for. Dick Fain and Matt "Stretch" Johnson get ready for the afternoon show, talking about The Boz raising the flag. When will Coach Holmgren get his chance?

Greg Cosell is one of the brightest minds in football and his genius can be seen every week on NFL Matchup. It's two days before Christmas, and we're still live with Slickhawk filling in for Ian this afternoon. Remember a coule of weeks ago when Marshawn was in town and people talked about Beast Mode re-signing with Seattle? Yeah, we all had a good laugh. Now with a desperate need for running backs, the idea of Marshawn returning isn't so crazy, and in fact, he's headed for Seattle right now ot talk with the team. Is he the Beast Mode of old? Who knows? Is he the best option available? Probably yes, besides no one else can fire up the locker room and the fanbase like he can. Well obviously yesterday's game didn't go as hoped, with the loss, and the aforementioned injuries. So where did it all go wrong? We check in with Hugh Millen for Hardcore Football, an in-depth look at the game.

Usually joining us at 2:20, Mike Sando joins us a little early today to talk about everything happening in the NFL; the potential for Marshawn's return, the Patriots, and what's wrong with the Cowboys? Ian Rapoport broke the story that Marshawn would be talking with Seattle. He calls up the show to give us the latest. Softy, post-Star Wars, discusses the Beast Mode situation from the Emerald Queen Casino.

Tune in every Monday after the Seahawks play for the best post-game breakdown you'll hear from anybody on what happened to the Hawks. Hardcore Football is brought to you by Heritage Distilling and Jack's BBQ.

Normally, Ian joins us on Friday, but today, we look for the latest updates as we wait to find out if Beast Mode will officially re-join the Hawks, brought to you by Redbox, the smarter way to watch and play.
