The Ian Furness Show

The trade deadline was just about an hour ago. Unsurprisingly, Jerry Dipoto made a few moves, including Hunter Strickland and Roenis Elias to the Nats, and Mike Leake to the Diamondbacks. With thoughts on all of the trades around baseball is our own morning show co-host, Chuck Powell. Last hour, we started our latest look at the M's' farm system. This hour, we've made it to the higher levels. Steven Davis, voice of the Travelers talks about the latest developments in AA, including the performances of newly-promoted Logan Gilbert, Ljay Newsome, and Cal Raleigh, thoughts on Zac Grotz who was called up today, plus updates on Kyle Lewis, Justus Sheffield, and more. There aren't as many highly-touted prospects at the AAA level, but Tacoma Rainiers voice has a few players he's keeping an eye on, plus an update on Jake Fraley, and will we ever see Ian Miller get called up? Finally Softy stops in to react to all of the M's moves before his show.

Ian is out at the VMAC once again as training camp continues. The big news today isn't particularly good news; L.J. Collier, the Hawks' first-round draft pick, was carted off the field with a high ankle sprain. It's unclear how long he will be out for, but it'll likely be at least a couple of weeks. We seem to deal with our top draft picks getting hurt quite a bit. In fact, it was just a year ago that Penny missed time. Right now, on a team with depth at a number of positions, our edge rush depth is lacking. Mike Sando has made his triumphant return to KJR now that he's out from under the thumb of the four-letter network and working for The Athletic. He talks about the new gig, and the 2019 quarterback tier rankings where Russell Wilson has finally climbed to Tier 1. On a day where concern for Hawks defensive end position grows, we're joined by two that are healthy and will need to step up. This hour, it's Quinton Jefferson talking about the journey that brought him back to Seattle.

Our second defensive end of the show, Jacob Martin joins Ian talking about his expectations for himself in his second season. On Something good, Cougar Country Drive In in Pullman will re-open under new ownership. L.J. Collier left the field today with a high ankle sprain. Our Seahawks reporter Curtis Crabtree has the latest plus more notes from camp today. We take your texts at 49451. Softy loses it over the L.J. Collier injury.
