The Ian Furness Show

Rookie camp is underway from the VMAC, and Dick Fain is down there checking it out. He calls in with his first impressions of the Hawks' new players. Home runs are being hit like never before in Major League Baseball, and pitchers are claiming the balls have been juiced. Is it possible that batters are just focusing more on hitting home runs? And even if it is the balls, does it really matter? Softy joins Terry from the VMAC as he prepares to broadcast live with Dick Fain from practice.

The Mariners got crushed by the Cubs yesterday. That's three games out of the last four that they've lost by more than ten runs. It's frustrating watching this because of the amazing start this team had, but if they hadn't gone 13-2, this might not remotely be shocking. With the roster rebuild taking place, what did you expect? People are defending players being paid under the table, and whether you agree that the rule needs to be changed or not, this isn't how this works. You cannot simply ignore rules because you don't like them. Brandon Huffman of 247Sports has the latest on college recruiting, including information on the quarterback transfer story at Washington, Sav'ell Smalls saying he isn't going to Washington, and more. On Something Good, Lakeland Village Golf charity event is coming up.

Attendance in baseball is slipping this year, with some teams' attendance falling more than 10 percent. What can baseball do to grow the sport? It doesn't help that certain teams get all the attention, and only a handful of teams can compete every year. Maybe new stadiums should be built smaller to induce demand. Breaking news: The Seahawks have declined to pick up Germain Ifedi's fifth-year option. Dennis Dodd released his Post-Spring Football Top 25 and four Pac-12 teams made the list. Is the conference turning things around? We talk with him about the state of the conference. Texts react to the conversation about players being paid in college. Softy sets up the afternoon show.

The M's are in the midst of a two-game series against the Cubs and their fans have suddenly taken over the city. If you're upset by Chicagoans flooding T-Mobile Park, buy a ticket. Honestly though, when the home team hasn't made the playoffs in nearly two decades, fans can't be blamed for not filling the stadium. Ian found out today that Jason Botchford passed away; someone he had worked with a little, but enjoyed listening to often. It's reminded him how much sports connects us all. Steve Palazzolo of Pro Football Focus looks at how the Hawks performed in the 2019 Draft. Which KJR listeners would make the KJR Listener Hall of Fame if such a thing existed? On Something Good, a genuine gesture from Tiger Woods.

Ian continues his broadcast from Jimmy's on First, joined by the AP's Tim Booth talking M's and Cubs, bunting in the modern game of baseball, and thoughts on the NFL Draft. Tim says Gary Jennings Jr. has a great chance to pop after being taken in the fourth round, and speaking of Jennings, his position coach at West Virginia, now with Houston, Tyron Carrier tells us all about him. With the Cubs being in town, the fanbase has taken over T-Mobile Park. Their fans are pretty irritating, but are they the worst in sports. Softy joins to discuss.
