In this Psalm, David has overcome a severe illness and is rededicating his palace to the LORD out of a heart of thanksgiving. 

The conversion of Cornelius marks a turning point in Acts and salvation history. The gospel now goes to the Gentiles. 

Luke is setting us up to see the explosion of the gospel among the Gentiles. But before he gets there, he takes a detour to tell us about 2 miracles Peter performs that sets the stage for what happens in Acts 10.

Barnabus introduces Saul to Peter and the church at Jerusalem. 

Saul of Tarsus was on the road to Damascus to persecute the church but Jesus had other plans. Jesus appears to him and because of that history would change. Saul would become the apostle to the gentiles. 

David challenges the prevailing pagan worldview of his time by proclaiming that God is overall the "gods" of the pagan nations. God is even Lord over the storm. 

Peter gives some challenging teaching to the churches of Asia Minor. Christians are called to be the "best citizens" of their country without capitulating to commands from governing forces that are contrary to God's word. Government and the church is an age-old question and Peter takes it on in a practical manner. 

In a world where people yearn to be accepted and "liked", believers must remember what Peter tells us: we are CHOSEN.

After reminding his readers of the grace offered them in Christ, Peter gives four commands that correspond to the holy life Christians are meant to live.

Peter writes to a group of Christians in Asia Minor that was facing difficult challenges. He reminds them of who they are in Christ and he reminds them that suffering refines us and makes us better.
