This is a class of Psalm known as an imprecatory Psalm. These Psalms are raw with emotion and can make a modern person flinch at their call for God's justice and vengeance. They are important because they are part of God's inspired word. 

Saul is a rising star among his Jewish brethren but Jesus has plans for him. Saul, who we know as the Apostle Paul, will be God's instrument to bring the gospel to the Gentiles. 

Philip is a busy man in Acts chapter 8! In our reading today, we see him have a God-ordained meeting with a foreigner - the Ethiopian eunuch.

Simon converts from a life of sorcery to Christianity only to be rebuked by Peter and John for still holding on to desires of the flesh. 

Acts 8 acts as a turning point in the book of Acts. Stephen has been killed and now Saul is persecuting the church. The gospel is going into a new region by going to Samaria. 

David finds confidence in the Lord even though his enemies are powerful and threatening. He longs to be in God's presence and seeks God's counsel. God's protection and God's guidance give David confidence. 

Stephen is the first Christian martyr. 

It doesn't take long for division to start in the church in Acts! But thanks to the Apostle's wisdom, the problem was solved and the gospel continued to spread, even converting some priests!

The Apostles are arrested because they won't stop preaching Jesus. An Angel breaks them out only to send them back to the temple to preach.
