For the spiritual battles God has called us to, He is dressing us with His own armor. And it's designed to be used as an active part of a community, a squad of fighter, not as a lone ranger. So, our church community is not optional, it is our battle formation. Now, there are 6 pieces of armor mentioned in Ephesians. What are they and what do they do?

We are called to take part in a battle, not fought with human hands against flesh and blood, but against the spiritual powers of evil. But who is our adversary, how does he work, and what is he not? And what is the nature of our struggle, how do we battle the powers of evil? And if he was defeated by Christ on the cross, why do we battle him today? What are we ultimately fighting for?

We were not saved merely to be rescued, we were saved to be recruited. Saved so that we pick up His armor and join a battle already in progress. We exist between the resurrection of Jesus and the resurrection of all God's people. That in-between space is not a waiting room, but a war zone. Yet, a war not fought with human strength and energy, but strengthened by the power of God.

Scriptures show in 2 Timothy 1:5 that faith can travel through generations. Often it does through the faith of mothers, who in certain moments of life had to choose between faith and fear. A few of the mothers of our community share those moments and what scriptures anchored them to faith.

In Ephesians 6, Apostle Paul introduced a perspective and way of life that ran counter to the societal practice of slavery of his day. By declaring the lordship of Christ over all, it rewrote identity, motivation and community. Thus, the Gospel didn't immediately remove slavery, but it removed it's power to define people. Similarly, it translates to our work life today. Are we letting the lordship of Christ define the paradigm? Or are we still treating it as trying to satisfy an earthly master, instead of as a platform to represent God?

God established a "household code" that often runs counter to what the culture of the day may teach. Children are called to obey and honor parents, not just as a behavior, but as an act of worship and following Christ. And fathers are called to instruct their children, not with an iron fist, but by patiently teaching, and leading with strength and consistent love, and modeling a life with God and His standards.

In scripture, it doesn't try to encourage a 50/50 marriage contribution, but rather to imitate Christ's relationship with us, His bride. A call to submit to each other in everything and to love each other sacrificially.

Resurrection Sunday is God declaring that His life cannot be buried. Because He isn't just the giver of life, He is life. And as Jesus, through His human life modeled how to truly live in God, through His resurrection He brought a renewal and restoration for us and all of Creation into new life.

The crowd expected to see a conquering king coming with pomp and grandeur ready to deliver them from their oppressors, but Jesus entered Jerusalem humbly and with meekness on a young donkey. He had a different purpose, and wasn't swayed by the crowd, who's opinion changes like the weather. He stayed committed to His purpose.
