Job suffered probably the worst loss of anyone else in The Bible, and yet he still chose to follow God. He persevered through the hard times, choosing actively to keep his eyes on God. Today, Pastor Bill’s going to encourage you to have the same kind of perseverance to do God’s will. It’s through God you have eternal life, and His hand is the hand that deals out all blessings and all good gifts on His children. Is He Who your hope and faith trust in, or is your focus somewhere else, in the world and its pleasures?
One thing that’s clear in learning about Job’s trials when he lost everything is that God is the answer. No matter what you’re going through, going to God is always good. Today, Pastor Bill’s going to show you how Job demanded answers from God for his hard times, but quickly realized through the answer he got that God is faithful to those who are faithful to Him. It may be in this life or the next, but Christians will be rewarded for what they endure here on earth for the sake of Christ and The Gospels.
A lot happened to Job in The Bible, and that is an understatement. He lost everything because God let him be tested by Satan to see if he would remain faithful. Today, Pastor Bill is going to show you what happened to Job when he demanded dialogue with God. Job gets the answers that he was asking for. But you can see his perseverance in coming before God because he knew where to turn in hard times. He remained faithful to God through it all, despite being confused for a while in the process.
God is so far above man’s ability to comprehend or understand that we can never truly know Him in His fullness. We can just learn about what He says about Himself and us, and the world around us, but never fully comprehending His ways. Today, Pastor Bill’s going to show you the questions God asked Job to prove that truly no one is greater than God. No creature that exists or law in place or planet in space can compare with God. It’s because of Him that it all has existence in the first place.
Science continues to give us more and more research and data to explain all possible things in the physical world. Technology makes volumes of information accessible to almost anyone. But no matter how much we learn and achieve, it never will end in us fully comprehending God and His ways. Pastor Bill’s going to encourage you today to keep that sense of wonder for God. Remember that you can’t know all there is to know about Him. That’s why He’s God. He is good, and He is higher than us.
When things got hard for Job, he knew where to go to get the strength and encouragement he needed. He looked up. He knew God was the source of all of his fortune already. On his own, he would have had nothing, but, as Pastor Bill’s going to point out in today’s message, Job actually had everything. He kept his eyes on God and trusted in Him to get him through the trials he was facing. He knew, like we should, too, that God won’t put us through anything that He can’t get us through in the first place.
Looking back at the times in the past when God has moved through you or came through for you or blessed you is important to remember when you’re facing new trials in the present. He’s more to Christians than just a means to material wealth or fame. In fact, as Pastor Bill’s going to point out today, it’s usually quite the opposite. Following God can be hard, and even bring hard times to you, but there’s always good to be found in any situation in God’s timing if you keep your focus on Him.
How do you live your life for Christ? Is it evident that He’s Who your hope is in for eternity? Does your life look different than those around you that haven’t been touched by Jesus yet? Today, Pastor Bill’s going to show you that Job’s life looked a lot different, even when his blessings were taken away. He continued to praise God and showed that He was much more to Job than just a way to acquire material blessings here on earth. Job had complete faith and trust in God for everything, including eternity.
While you’re living on the earth, there’s one thing your focus should be on. There’s one place you should keep in mind in every decision you make. Today, Pastor Bill’s going to remind you that God is so much more than just the blessing you can get out of Him. He’s the ultimate source of joy and peace in your heart, and He alone can give you eternal life with Him in Heaven. He should be a part of all areas of your life, not just when times get hard or you need His help to afford that next vacation.
Always be looking for Jesus. He’s there, in the Scriptures, throughout the entire Word of God. You just have to look. Remember Him when you’re reading, no matter where, and see if you can connect it to Jesus. Today, Pastor Bill’s going to show you how Jesus is the central focus of not only The Gospels but the entire Bible! Everything before Him foreshadows His coming, and everything after talks about what He did and about Him coming back to earth someday. He’s there, and He’s everywhere.
