Do you know anyone who’s consumed by their pursuit of something? Everything else in their life is secondary to the value placed on this one thing. Have you ever found yourself becoming so fixated on something that everything else seemed unimportant? Today Pastor Bill introduces you to Haman. If you’ve ever heard the reference to the love of money being the root of evil, then you know this man. He spent his entire life accumulating as much as he could and ultimately died with nothing.
Everyone loves a good cliffhanger. So pay close attention to Pastor Bill today as he gives you more insight into the story of Esther than you might have thought existed. The Bible is full of good storylines that have everything from comedy to wisdom and even action, adventure, and drama. The story of Esther is no exception. Today you will meet several more characters from the text that often fade into Esther’s shadow. But make no mistake, without every detail in the Bible, there is no story left to tell.
What is the purpose of the church? Have you ever considered that? Especially in today’s modern places of worship where businesses rent space, departments of staff run day-to-day operations to ensure continued support of the ministry, and Sundays are planned and rehearsed to offer the best experiences possible, it's easy to lose sight of the purpose. But today Pastor Bill says no matter how crazy it all gets, God’s in charge. He’s always been in charge, and will always be there to help guide you.
What do you put your trust in? Short-term examples could be trusting your car to get to work on time and safely, or trusting that your water heater will produce warm water for your next shower. While those are nice - what about your long-term trust? Today Pastor Bill gives you some perspective on trusting God with your soul for all of eternity. God has created something for you that can’t be described here on earth. It’s called Heaven, and no matter how fantastic you have ever imagined it to be, it's better still!
Do you ever feel like you were born in the wrong decade? Maybe you’re a 90’s baby wishing you were born in the 60’s, or vice versa. Well, Pastor Bill reminds you today that God has placed you in the time you are in, especially to face the challenges that He has placed before you today. You can daydream about living in a different time period. But remember to be obedient and be a good steward of what God has for you right now. That will always supersede whatever you could possibly daydream.
Esther really is a suspenseful story in the Bible. It is a prime example of the lengths the Lord will go to in order to protect the Israelite people from those who would seek to destroy them. It is because of that fact that we must be careful to respect their people and their culture, and not make light of them. Pastor Bill reminds you today that throughout history, God has intervened on behalf of His chosen people, and He will do it again in the End Times. Stay on the right side of history and stand with God.
Have you been waiting for years for the Lord to reveal to you why He has you in the place you are in right now? Well, Pastor Bill teaches you today that Esther was in her position as queen for nearly ten years before her purpose there was made known. It required patience from both her and her cousin Mordecai to obey God, and because of their obedience, the people of Israel were saved. If you continue to trust God and obey Him in the place where you are waiting, He will bless your life abundantly.
Do you ever struggle with discouragement or bitterness as you try to walk this narrow path with the Lord? If so, you're in good company because almost everyone mentioned in the Bible has gone through extreme hardships and discouragements, yet God always brought them up and out of it. As Pastor Bill continues his teaching series through the book of Esther, he’ll be encouraging you to look through the lens of eternity and realize that God works all things out for good to those who love Him!
Esther is one of the most fascinating books of the Old Testament, especially in today's day and age. God raised up this godly woman to take on extremely powerful people in one of the most powerful kingdoms on Earth. Today, Pastor Bill will be explaining how no matter what the world looks like around you, God still wants to use you to further His Kingdom. Just as Esther was placed in that location and position “for such a time as this”, you too have been placed by God to be a light in this dark world.
The same way the enemy was trying to distract Nehemiah and the Jewish people from rebuilding the walls of Jerusalem, is the same exact thing the enemy is trying to do to you and your walk with the Lord. As Pastor Bill continues his teaching series through the book of Nehemiah, he’ll be challenging you to put your hand to the plow and not look back! Don’t allow your flesh, the world, or the devil to distract you from your main purpose here on Earth, which is to preach the Gospel and to make disciples.
