"To err is human"
That should have been President Reagan's opening line while addressing the country after Iran-Contra came to light. Instead it was a lot of half apologies and half truths. After repeated congressional amendments to stop the White House from funding the rebel Contra group trying to take power in Nicaragua, and negotiating the release of U.S. prisoners with back alley arms deals, the operation needed to be pulled together in secret. Reagan pulled out his moral compass which pointed to the North, Oliver North to be exact. Ollie facilitated the extra cash from the arms deal to fund the Contras. It all worked until a magazine article, and a plane crash tanked the whole operation. Listen in to hear how it all came crashing down.
