Christchurch and the issues of Identity, Incels, Jacinda Ardern, 8chan and Egg Boy.
    White Terrorism in Christchurch
    His manifesto:
Claiming to represent “millions of European and other ethno-nationalist peoples”, he said “we must ensure the existence of our people, and a future for white children”.
The gunman described the attack as an act of “revenge on the invaders for the hundreds of thousands of death caused by foreign invaders in European lands throughout history … for the enslavement of millions of Europeans taken from their lands by the Islamic slavers … (and) for the thousands of European lives lost to terror attacks throughout European lands.”
He said the attack was also inspired by a trip he took to France in 2017.
“For many years I had been hearing and reading of the invasion of France by non-whites, many of these rumours and stories I believed to be exaggerations, created to push a political narrative.
“But once I arrived in France, I found the stories not only be true, but profoundly understated. In every French city, in every French town the invaders were there.”
Tarrant said he feels no remorse for the attack. “I only wish I could have killed more invaders, and more traitors as well.” He also said there “was a racial component to the attack” and described it as “anti-immigration” and “an attack in the name of diversity”.
Posting on an 8chan forum, a user who identified himself as Tarrant announced he would carry out the attack.
“I will carry out an attack against the invaders, and will even live stream the attack via Facebook,” he wrote, with a link to his Facebook page. “If I don’t survive the attack, goodbye, god bless and I will see you all in Valhalla!”
Many anonymous users responded praising him for the attack, with comments like “Godspeed” and “that video is so goddamn good”.
In Norse mythology, Valhalla (/vɑːlˈhɑːlɑː/;[1] from Old Norse Valhöll “hall of the slain”)[2] is a majestic, enormous hall located in Asgard, ruled over by the god Odin. Chosen by Odin, half of those who die in combat travel to Valhalla upon death, led by valkyries, while the other half go to the goddess Freyja’s field Fólkvangr. In Valhalla, the dead join the masses of those who have died in combat, known as Einherjar, and various legendary Germanic heroes and kings, as they prepare to aid Odin during the events of Ragnarök. Before the hall stands the golden tree Glasir, and the hall’s ceiling is thatched with golden shields. Various creatures live around Valhalla, such as the stag Eikþyrnir and the goat Heiðrún, both described as standing atop Valhalla and consuming the foliage of the tree Læraðr.
    The Spiked Article
The killer seems to see himself as little more than a cultural being. In his seeming manifesto he professes commitment to the warped ethos of ethno-nationalism and continually refers to himself as white. He can see no identity for himself beyond the one he inherited by birth. Strikingly, the killer appears to say that his attack was done in the name of diversity – he says he wants ‘diverse peoples to remain diverse’, meaning identity groups must remain ‘separate, unique, undiluted, unrestrained in… cultural expression’. This sounds chillingly similar to the separatist ethos of the identitarian outlook, in which ‘cultural appropriation’ is a sin and anyone ...

  • Episode 193 – Hugh Harris on Politics, Religion and Sex
Hugh Harris joins the podcast to discuss Politics, Religion and Sex in Australia.
0:56 The 8th of March was International Women’s Day
What better way to celebrate than to get the opinion of another white privileged heterosexual male … Hugh Harris.
    1:58 Celia Hammond
It could be worse. We could be the Liberal Party preselecting Celia Hammond for Julie Bishop’s seat.
    According to Crikey:
So who is Celia Hammond, the woman walking into one of the safest Coalition seats in the country?
Hammond has spent 21 years at Fremantle’s Catholic University of Notre Dame, and has served as vice chancellor since 2008. During this time, Hammond has had plenty of occasions to comment on various social issues which are now the source of controversy around her candidacy.
… Previously, in an email to staff in 2013, she responded to concerns over the status of campus groups that supported same-sex marriage, by saying some clubs could “compromise the university’s Catholic identity and mission”.
Curtin voted 74% in favour of marriage equality.
Hammond does have one thing in common with her predecessor — she also doesn’t identify as a feminist. A speech from 2013 emerged during the preselection process in which she said she did not identify with the term, because, according to her, the movement had become “pro-abortion, anti-men, anti-tradition and anti-family”.
“One of the results of the militant feminist movement is to say you want to be a mother, to say you want to stay home, that you want to look after the house and raise the children, is not an acceptable life goal.”
She also took a dim view of “premarital casual sex”:

I have never known a single woman who has been able to have a premarital casual sexual encounter, or that sort of relationship, who hasn’t actually, whether they knew or acknowledged it at the time, been searching for something more… What they’re being sold is a pup.

This quote came during a speech delivered to the Dawson Society for Philosophy and Culture— a Catholic think tank in Perth dedicated to the “renewal of Christendom”.
    12:57 Catholic Hospitals and Abortion
The Catholic sector will be exempt from federal Labor’s plans to tie hospital funding to the provision of abortion services.
Announcing the opposition’s new women’s health policy on Wednesday, health spokeswoman Catherine King and deputy leader Tanya Plibersek said a new funding agreement between a Labor government and the states and territories would “expect that termination services will be provided consistently in public hospitals”.
On Wednesday, Ms King’s office phoned leaders from the Catholic health sector to assure them that a Labor government would not withhold funding from Catholic hospitals refusing to perform terminations on religious grounds.
This is not a normal business refusing to supply a service. This is a hospital providing a basic government function. It is a contractor for the government (like marriage celeb...

The Catholic Church and the Morrison Government compete to produce more scandals than we can handle.
    2:28 Voluntary Assisted Dying
    From DWDQ:
Just two Labor MPs decided against supporting the abortion decriminalisation bill in the end with one choosing to abstain.
It meant Labor did not need the LNP to pass its bill. This could be very different should the debate turn to VAD. Several Government MPs who supported abortion decriminalisation do not feel as comfortable supporting euthanasia so the full support of the Labor caucus for such laws is not guaranteed.
Labor could also find it harder to convince Liberal National Party MPs to back the laws, given the brutal political fallout within the conservative party over the abortion debate.
What are the numbers in the Qld Parliament?
A total of 93 made up of Labor 48, LNP 38, Others 7
    5:03 George Pell
Question: What does this mean for Catholicism in Australia?
Answer: Nothing. Individuals come and go but the Institution will live on as strong as ever (unfortunately). Like a professional football team when a star player has been caught with his pants down Pell will be suspended or sacked but replaced with a younger version and in a week everyone will forget about Pell. His replacement will appear on Q and A and will lobby politicians for more school funding and will probably get a seat on a Religious Freedom Review Panel which will be convened again in 10 years. Nothing will change until the people who oppose religious privilege get together and co-operate on some long term goals.
The Royal Commission was far more damning as it condemned the Institution, not just one man and yet nothing of any consequence happened to the Church. In fact, fees paid to Catholic Schools increased.
    From Guy Rundle in Crikey:
We’ve decided, in our era, that someone can be tried for alleged events that occurred twenty years ago, and with a single witness, who is also the alleged victim. At an earlier time, the notion that a verdict beyond reasonable doubt could be established from that would have been dismissed out of hand.
    Kristina Keneally is agonising again:
Well-known Labor senator and previous NSW Premier, Kristina Keneally, is doubting her Catholic faith following Cardinal Pell trial: “I am really struggling with this, and I find keeping my faith in God sometimes [is] a day by day proposition.
How am I supposed to trust that an institution that has so grotesquely failed to protect children, that has so grotesquely failed to do as Jesus commanded, you know, love the little children and bring them in and care for them, where is God in all of this?
Where is God’s mercy, where is God’s love? And where is the church responding to this crisis, as God would ask us to – with mercy, with humility, begging forgiveness, and with real contrition and a resolution to change?”
16:40 Howard, Abbott and others gave character references. No problem with that.
    18:14 Frank Brennan
He has questioned the verdict and supports the seal of the confessional.
18:23 Evidence that the seal of the confessional actually enables the continuation of the sex abuse of children
However, the role of the confessional in regard to disclosures by perpetrators may be even more significant. This aspect has been analysed by Dr Marie Keenan, an Irish academic whose book Child Sex Abuse in the Catholic Church: Gender, Power and Organisational Culture is probably the most comprehensive study of the subject ever published. Keenan has spent decades interviewing clerical sex offenders and tryin...

  • Episode 191 – Voluntary Assisted Dying in Qld

The Queensland Parliament is considering introducing Voluntary Assisted Dying (VAD) legislation and has set up an inquiry into End of Life choices.

Dying With Dignity Queensland Inc (DWDQ) wants you to understand the issues and hopefully make a submission requesting that VAD laws be introduced.
In this episode of the podcast we interview Phil Browne, who is a DWDQ committee member and Dr Craig Glasby, a retired GP and member of DWDQ.
Firstly – some info about Phil and the DWDQ committee
Phil is a registered nurse and has worked in a large hospice for 7 years.
DWDQ has an eight member committee. Five of these eight committee members are either currently practicing, or retired, doctors or registered nurses.
Between these five health professionals, they have:

    * 218 years front-line patient care experience, consisting of …
    * Palliative care (37 years total), oncology, general practice, intensive care, general and specialist hospital wards and aged care, as well as …
    * Established a Palliative Care service at a major Brisbane hospital, plus …
    * Trained junior doctors in managing End of Life situations for patients and family, plus they have …
    * Provided End-of-Life care in the final stages leading to the deaths of approximately 7,600 patients with advanced and progressive terminal, chronic or neurodegenerative conditions

    History
Australia-wide there have been over 30 bills introduced in different state/Territory parliaments to legalise VAD. With the exception of two of these bills, all the others have been defeated (many by a mere 1 or 2 votes).
    1. The NT legalised VAD in the 1990s. Multiple people took advantage of the law before the federal govt overturned the NT law one year later.
    2. The Victorian parliament passed their Voluntary Assisted Dying Act. 2017. There is an 18 month period prior to the law taking effect. From June 2019 eligible Victorian residents will be able to access VAD.
In recent years Parliamentary inquiries into End of Life issues have been/are being conducted in three states to specifically examine if VAD should be legalised and if so, to determine the characteristics of future legislation.
Victoria and WA have completed their inquiries, and the Qld inquiry has just commenced (AND WANTS TO HEAR OUR VIEWS!)
Other State Inquiries Have Exposed Problems With End Of Life Choices
Both Victoria and WA have held Parliamentary inquiries into End of Life Choices.

    * Victorian Parliament, Legislative Council Legal and Social Issues Committee – Inquiry into end of life choices report, June 2016
    * Western Australian Parliament Joint Select Committee on End of Life Choices – My Life, My Choice report, August 2018

Both the Victorian report and the WA report revealed some key findings:

    * Confirmation from palliative care experts that palliative care cannot relieve suffering in all cases.
    * Confirmation from state Coroners of approximately one suicide weekly (frequently by hanging/shooting) in each state, of a person with a terminal/irreversible health condition. A report from the WA Coroner’s Office noted that this accounted for 13.9% of suicides in Western Australia.
    * Recommendations that voluntary assisted dying be legalised in both Victoria and Western Australia.
