  • Building a Winning Culture: Tim Borys on Leadership and Wellness

In today’s episode, I welcome Tim Borys, former elite athlete and New York Yankees draft pick and national-level coach for individuals and teams. Tim leverages his sports background to transform corporate cultures into those that truly embrace well-being. He encourages individuals and teams to adopt a more holistic mindset, one that incorporates physical, emotional, and mental health as essential to high performance and high output.

It’s safe to say that Tim speaks my language. We talk about our shared background in athletics and how it has shaped us into the ambitious, driven leaders we are today. We also discuss how those qualities can be our (and many other leaders') downfall. Tim talks about the organizational mindsets he most frequently encounters and how they diminish the health and performance of their teams. Most importantly, Tim and I talk about what it would look like if companies actually supported employee well-being in the day-to-day reality rather than just conceptually.

If you’re ready to learn about how holistic wellness drives sustainable, long-term high performance, this episode is for you!

  • Proactive Hiring and Profit Doubling with CEO Whisperer, Cameron Herold

In today’s episode, I had the pleasure of speaking with the founder of the COO Alliance, Cameron Herold. Known as the “CEO Whisperer” and the author of Double Double, a book that helps business owners double their profit in three years or less, Cameron brings a refreshing, leading-edge perspective to business development rooted in hard-won experience.

There is so much I loved about our conversation, from Cameron’s ethos of keeping employees (not just customers) happy, to his obsession with company core values, to his focus on proactive rather than reactive hiring. We also dove into why so many founders hire for roles they don’t need or give people titles (with pay) they don’t need, resulting in major financial losses. Plus, Cameron and I connect about recovering from burnout, rediscovering our purpose, and paving the path to where we are today.

If you’re looking for some inspiration and knowledge from an industry giant, this episode is for you! _______________________________________________________

  • Investing in Yourself in 2024

Happy New Year! In today’s episode, I share my thoughts on how to start the new year off in the best way possible. Here’s a hint: It doesn’t involve resolutions. Instead, I invite you to consider what rituals will best set you up for success, including the ritual of self-investment.

As a new chapter begins, you’ll inevitably see as many self or business development courses and offerings as you see people at the gym. The question is, what will you say yes to? As the year inevitably flies by, you’ll want to know that whatever you invest your time and money in aligns with what truly matters to you. Instead of getting swept up by every new program on offer, get really clear now about what would really move the needle for you. I share what types of things I will always invest in and discuss my process of knowing whether an offering is right for me or not.

If you’re ready to invest in yourself in 2024, join me in this episode! ________________________________________________________

  • Stop, Start, Continue

In this episode, I cover how to make the most of the beautiful stillness between Christmas and New Year's. This magical time of the year is often one of the few chances we get to take a sacred pause. It’s the perfect time to reflect on where we’ve been and where we’re going.

I offer you an alternative way to approach the changes you want to see in the new year. Rather than adopting rigid resolutions, what if you focused on long-term sustainable rituals and habits? But to understand which rituals you need to adopt, you need to get really clear on what’s working and what isn’t. I cover a simple journaling process I use to help me do just that. Plus, I discuss aspects of my journey this past year, what I’m letting go of, and more.

If you’re ready to make 2024 your best year yet, this episode is for you! _______________________________________________________

  • Your Strength is Your Achilles Heel

In today’s episode, I talk about how your biggest strength is also your Achilles heel. One of the biggest tendencies I see in founders is defaulting to their area of expertise when they’re scaling, need to support a client in a custom way, or hit a growth edge. For me, it's recruiting — I'm really good at connecting the dots between people and companies. I know I can rely on those skills, and it’s all too easy to step back into that role when the pressure is on.

But here's the thing. The more time I spend on recruiting, the less time I have to strategize, make high-level business decisions, put out content, and connect with you. The more time we spend doing essentially our old jobs, the less effective we are in our leadership roles. What got us to our founding roles is not what will move us forward successfully.

If you’re looking for inspiration on how to step more fully into your leadership role, this episode is for you.

  • Operations Simplified with Alyson Caffrey

Welcome back to another episode of the Jackie Serviss Show. In today’s episode, I welcome Alyson Caffrey, a master at streamlining back-end ops for brands using her Operations Simplified™ framework. She helps founders create a strong foundation for success through strategic systems and processes, minimize the fires they’re putting out in their operations, create a foundation that enables teams to thrive, and so much more.

Alyson’s mindset is proactive and strategic, two qualities I really resonate with. She discusses why it's important to think about a company as its own entity and let it tell you what it needs. Too many founders try to force their business into a rigid structure that doesn’t actually serve its growth. Too many aren’t listening to the needs of their business and developing systems, or what Alyson calls healthy habits, that actually serve it. By leveraging Alyson’s wisdom, you can create a strong, reliable operational framework built on people, technology, and processes to guide them both.

Join me as Alyson and I talk about the nuts and bolts of building a successful business. _______________________________________________________

  • Why Your Mission Matters When Hiring

Does your mission play a role when hiring talent? It should. In this episode, we talk about why what you stand for matters more than you might think in recruiting. Your mission anchors the energy of your company. Getting clear about it matters. When you’re clear about why you do what you do and you communicate it with candidates, you’re more likely to draw in passionate high performers who stick with you for the long haul.

In this solo episode, I discuss how the hiring landscape is evolving. More than ever, job seekers want a true sense of purpose in their careers. Many would actually take less money to work at a company that aligns with their core values. By bringing your vision into the conversation right away, you create buy-in for the candidates who are most aligned with your company.

Join me in this episode to learn more about the impact of mission-driven hiring. _______________________________________________________

  • Overcoming Overwhelm and Embracing Authentic Success with Heather Chauvin

Join me as I chat with Heather Chauvin, a leadership coach for women seeking authenticity and truly soul-fulfilling success. Featured in Forbes, Entrepreneur, Real Simple Magazine, Mind Body Green, Google, and more, Heather draws from some remarkable life experiences, including becoming a single mother at 18, overcoming stage 4 cancer, and carving her own path to becoming the empowering coach she is now. I can see a lot of my own journey in Heather’s, so this is a truly juicy episode.

She and I explore what success really means, how the hamster wheel of chasing achievement affects us, and how to slow down, listen to our bodies, and discern our true wants. We discuss why so many women live in a constant state of overwhelm and how we often seek external validation over our own soul’s truth. Heather has rock-solid advice for how to step out of this cycle and set goals that will actually make you feel great, including a powerful journaling technique I can’t wait to start using. I love how she combines softness and fierceness, giving us both the encouragement and the kick in the pants we need to start changing our lives.

  • Beyond Business

Welcome back to the Jackie Serviss show. In this episode, we’re going beyond business and getting a little vulnerable. Recently, a dear friend commented on how I tend to hide away during some of the inevitable tough moments that come with being an entrepreneur. Big fears, big shifts, and big emotions can trigger me into dimming my light and not showing up in the world until it feels safe again.

I've been reflecting on the words of one of the incredible coaches I work with. He broke fear down into three categories: fear of judgment, fear of failure and fear of success. These make perfect sense because walking the entrepreneurial path means shedding many layers to come closer and closer to our true expression. With each new layer, we feel vulnerable in all sorts of ways. As a former corporate head of HR turned executive coach turned recruiting agency owner with a spiritual side, I know this journey well.

Hiding your light may feel safe in the moment, but there’s a big price to pay. Join me in this episode to learn more about what triggers the need to retreat, how I’m moving past this pattern, and what questions you should ask yourself to find your way out of fear.
