  • 14 Sally Williams of Rescuing the Rescuers and Mission Meow

The cat talk continues with The Jersey Podcats podcast hosts Danielle Woolley and Elizabeth Gearhart and guest Sally Williams of Rescuing the Rescuers and Mission Meow!  Find out more about how Mission Meow is helping feline-centric non-profits, and buy cool merch, at MissionMeow.org.  Look for Rescuing the Rescuers on Facebook.

Did you know that Taylor Swift trademarks her cats' names and sells merch with their photos?  That's amazing, but Sally found someone who takes it one step further with something truly unique -
what do you do with the whiskers that your cat sheds?  Bet you never thought of Sally's fallen whisker solution, she has bags of them to repurpose in a creative way!  Watch the video or read the transcript or listen to the podcast to find out.   Hint: it has something to do with jewelry.

Sally also shared about the Facebook group Marlin Nation, named after her cat Marlin - find out more on Marlin's instagram page Marlin the Buddha cat, named for a buddha move that Marlin loved to do.  Marlin has passed but his spirit lives on...

Mission Meow was founded to help rescue organizations find the funds they needed for all the good work they do.  Mission Meow fundraises and gives the money to local shelters in the form of grants.

Rescuing the Rescuers is a Facebook group where animal rescuers can get support from others doing the same hard work.

  • 13 Pam Webster the Crocheting Cat Behaviorist

More cat stories!  Danielle and Elizabeth started out talking about their cats and their weekends, and told a couple of VERY lame jokes!   But the episode was about correcting cat behavior, and they asked questions such as "What can you do if your cat won't use a litter box?"

Pam Webster, the guest this episode, is a cat behaviorist who answered all their questions.  She's also a very talented crafter who crochets adorable calming blankets for cats.  You can see them at https://www.thecrochetingcatbehaviorist.com/

A few questions The Jersey Podcats asked Pam:
What makes your calming blankets especially good for giving cats medicine?
What can you do with cats that won't use the litter box?
Why won't cats use their litter box?
Why would a cat pee on a person's head? (yes, this really happened)
How can you get cats to live together in peace?
And is there any difference between kittens and kids?

Listen in to hear Pam's answers!

  • 12 Jenny Dedes of Chicago Animal Rescue - Why dogs not cats?

The Jersey Podcats Episode 12 with Jenny Dedes of Chicago Pet Rescue - Why dogs not cats?

The Jersey Podcats Episode 12 - Danielle and Elizabeth chat about their cats and their lives, then invite Jenny Dedes to talk about her experiences with animals of all types and stripes.

Elizabeth starts the conversation by talking about being on a throne at the iHeart studios in NY.  Danielle picked up the conversation to talk about kitty colds and an injured husband.  Then Elizabeth talked about the new Speak Easy near her in NJ and Danielle segued into her new role as a cat aunt.

Jenny joined the conversation and talked about her work at Chicago Pet Rescue.  The chat got a little dicey when Jenny talked about why she likes dogs more than cats, but they all kept it civil.  Danielle and Elizabeth admitted that dogs have some good qualities, but of course cats are better to live with.

They all answered the question: which animal do you think would make the best entrepreneur?  And went on from there to chat about their animals and the sweet, cute things they do!

  • 11 Karen Laos and powerful lessons from her cats

If you love talking about cats, but your friends and family are kind of over it. This is the podcast for you. Join your hosts, Danielle Woolley and Elizabeth Gearhart on the Jersey podcasts where everyday cat lovers share funny stories, challenging situations and ask their questions about cats. All right, let's get right into this episode.

We started this week's episode with our guest, Karen Laos, introducing her cat Mojo who happened to hop in just as we were starting. She talks about why she calls him her redemption kitty. She shared some cat stories, as well as some of the really awesome things she is doing in the world empowering women.

Elizabeth shared why she invited Karen to be on this podcast is because she's got so much positive energy and she's so much fun to talk to and she has really great ideas also for communicating and making your point get taken the way it's supposed to. Her wealth of knowledge is profound. Elizabeth also shares a potential breakthrough with her cat Max.

Karen then talks to us about the day her cat went missing, how her husband brought to her attention how it was consuming her, and how that event led her to doing some personal development work and the lessons that came of it and how a few other experiences led her to her to Mojo. Dealing with a difficult person, who accused her of being a cat thief.

We talk about a book recommendation, The Body Keeps The Score by Bessel van der Kolk that Elizabeth and her husband saw the author speak.

Karen continued to share that things that hold us back that get in our way and that we every day have a choice when we get to choose how we act, how we think, how we feel. And I think that's also a really important thing to remember is that we all have the power of self agency. How faith comes into play. And Danielle shared how her at Cali came to find her, but then ditched her to become her husband's cat and after rambling for a bit, Karen pointed out that one of the things she helps people with is how to stop rambling and get to the point. She then shares how learning to negotiate at a flea market led her to her love for negotiating.

As you can see there were a lot of interesting topics covered and Karen is a joy to listen to, you'll have to watch to find out the rest including her being on a mission to eradicate self doubt in 10 million women in the next 10 years.

  • 9 Noah Fleischman about his cat Princess

The Jersey Podcats Episode 9, Danielle & Elizabeth chat with Noah Fleischman about his cat Princess.

On Episode 9, Noah Fleischman talks about meeting his wife and her cat, and how he and Princess forged a loving bond.  A radio show producer and a Himalayan cat may not seem like a likely pair, but they make it work, meow :)

Noah relates how Princess the Himalayan cat was not very happy when they had to move.  Her parents weren't too happy either.  Moving is bad enough, but throw in a cat or two and it's a whole new adventure - an adventure to be avoided, just ask Danielle.

Noah also reveals how he stumped a tour director in St. Petersburg with a question about cats, and went on from there to discuss cats and their lineage.   Noah always knows how to tell a good story and put a twist at the end!

And of course Danielle and Elizabeth talked about their cats, including an update on Max and what he said to the cat communicator.  You just have to hear it to believe it!
