It’s our one-year anniversary! A year ago, this week in 2017 I launched this podcast. The purpose of this podcast is to help entrepreneurs and freelancers build a business with less moving parts, less overhead and less headaches.

Once you understand how these work, you can mix or combine them to create something that’s a unique or better fit for your business.

What is the best business model for online entrepreneurs? As of this writing, there are four business models that stand out. In a minute, you’ll see why. None of these business models require a large financial investment. None of them require buying stock or merchandise. That alone adds greatly to their appeal!

There are negative elements that go with each model as well. Once you understand how these work, you can mix or combine them to create something that’s a better fit for your business.

Have you ever paid for something year after year only to come to the place where you didn’t feel the price tag wasn’t worth it anymore? Maybe you’ve been loyal to certain brands, but you’re now realizing the product just isn’t what it used to be?

I find this type of thing happening more frequently with a variety of things.

It makes me take a closer look at the value I bring to the table for my own clients in my own business. With no shortage of competition, I believe it’s important to find ways to extend your value, bringing more (not less) to the table.

Nothing matters more to your clients than the bottom line. A website can help get them there... but honestly, it's not enough. Not by itself.

Several years ago I visited the home of a famous futurist. He was almost 100 years old at the time! We scheduled an appointment and a few weeks later we went to his home to hear him lecture and go on a short tour led by his wife.

Afterward, I learned that he basically gave the same speech and tour over and over again. One person later commented that the information was no longer up to date because much had changed.

But guess what? It didn’t matter to me or any of the others who were there. Why? We were “beginners” and we were there to learn the basics of something we knew very little about.

Full disclosure, I’ll never be mistaken for a productivity guru. And I’m not one of those people who must be busy or in-motion all the time to be happy.

If my recent getaway confirmed anything, it confirmed that.

I love down time, nap time and even game time.

My business allows me to do just that. Sure, I could probably be more, do more or have more… but honestly – I don’t feel like spending every waking hour doing stuff. In my opinion, productivity, as it’s currently being taught, is way overrated.

If you could go back in time and give the younger version of yourself some advice, what would you say?
