-Gas prices are once again expected to spike today to 160.9 cents a litre, according to gas analyst Dan McTeague. He says those prices we saw over the Canada Day long weekend are expected to stick around for at least the next week, and could even extend for the entirety of July.

-An American woman who was pictured posing next to a giraffe she just shot in South Africa has triggered worldwide condemnation. But Tess Thompson Talley says she was just doing her part for conservation! She killed the old bull giraffe to prevent it from attacking younger giraffes.

-Over the weekend, Coquitlam mayor Richard Stewart helped a disabled woman who had to wait three hours in the rain for a wheelchair taxi. Volunteer staff and first responders stayed with her until the taxi arrived. Mayor Stewart says the taxi system is broken.

-What does it take to become a cannabis customer service expert? Simon Fraser University offers two day recreational retail courses for those who want to be the “budtenders” of the future. What sort of things are they required to learn?

-Today, the findings and recommendations stemming from the long awaited Surrey gang task force report will be unveiled. Surrey Councillor Tom Gill says the problem is so bad, children as young as 11 are being recruited by gangs.

-Seven climbers have rappelled from the bridge this morning, forcing the stoppage of an oil tanker which was meant to leave Vancouver port this morning. Greenpeace says the climbers are protesting the Trans Mountain pipeline.
Chapter 11:
-Fresh polling for Global News from IPSOS has found if an election were held tomorrow, Andrew Scheer’s Conservatives would win over Justin Trudeau’s Liberals receiving 37% of the popular vote.
