Canadian outdoor sports outfitter Mountain Equipment Co-op (MEC) says it is reviewing its relationship with several brands, over concerns about their connection to the U.S. firearms industry — but isn’t ready to make a decision on whether to drop them.  It comes amid a public pressure campaign in the wake of the deadly Parkland, Fla. school shooting, in which a semi-automatic rifle was used to kill 17 students.

Six vehicles were involved in a crash, including a Greyhound bus, north of Hope on Sunday that sent dozens of people to hospital.  It’s just the latest in a series of incidents on the Coquihalla Highway that has safety experts saying the speed limit on that route should be at least 30 km/h lower than what it was raised to in 2014.

A local company is proposing a solution to the Coquihalla’s safety issues...they suggest keeping the route clear of snow and ice by using geothermal and solar thermal power.

Heather Mullan was one of the thousands of British Columbians who lost a loved one to the opioid crisis last year. Dealing with a grief that few could understand, she searched for a support group to help her through. Not only was there nothing in her hometown of Langley, but nothing in the lower mainland for people who’ve lost a loved one to substance abuse. So she decided to start her own.

Jon McComb is back in the host chair after taking some time off during a busy past 10 days.  Weather is still in the news this morning.  A multi-vehicle crash on the Coquihalla Highway has sent more than two-dozen people to hospital. It happened at 8 last night near Othello Road between Hope and Merritt.

A serious six-vehicle crash closed the Coquihalla Highway in both directions north of Hope, B.C. for several hours on Sunday night and sent dozens of people to hospital.  Early Monday morning, the northbound lanes reopened, but southbound from Merritt remained closed.

That’s it for the Olympics! We got a total of 11 gold, 8 silver, 10 bronze.  Time to get ready for the paralympics!
