The JRPG Report

Another slow news week welcomes Atelier Ryza's western release. With no release trailer it kinda slipped in the dark of night. I cover the few spots of news we have and dive a bit deeper in my playthrough of Trails of Cold Steel III. A huge giveaway starts now. Anyone who signs up for listener support in 2019, will be entered to win a Deluxe edition of Final Fantasy VII Remake! See the link below to sign up! Thanks to all my listeners each week, you all rock.

It's been many years since a new game in the Trail of Cold Steel series came out. Sure the remasters were nice, but fans have been waiting patiently for the continuation of Rean's story in the West. Well The Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel is out now in America (sorry Europe has to wait another week) and it's amazing. I give my initial impressions plus a few news stories including the Japanese release date for Persona 5 Scramble. I'ts episode 82 of the JRPG Report thanks so much for listening each week!

It's been 2 weeks since our last new podcast, but there really wasn't much news. Persona 5 Royal detailed it's new "My Palace" feature and of course there is Atelier Ryza news. I'm moving this week so it's a great time for a slow news week and short show. Thanks for listening each week!

Sponsorships: on for this episode

We got our first look at Final Fantasy VII's box art and some new screenshots. In those images I dove deep and uncovered some details about the Materia system. I'll also talk about battle system, summons, and more. We had a few smaller stories too. I end the podcast with every notable JRPG on the Switch now and coming soon. I give my top 5 titles you need to play on Nintendo's awesome system.

Sequels are never better than the original right? Well this may be the exception to the rule. Part II of our Tokyo Game Show 2019 special is epic. I breakdown all the greatness of the Final Fantasy VII Remake gameplay, along with some things you may have missed. And I'll give my thoughts on the new Classic mode. Tales of Arise was there with a new trailer and it looks more "Tales of" which is very good. Plus a slew of smaller stories. Thanks so much for listening each week!

TGS 2019 started today but we heard so many stories before the show started that I needed a podcast today! This was Final Fantasy VII Remake's event to own and they did not disappoint.  I break down the new trailer and talk about the demo from the show floor. We had news from Y's IX, Persona 5 Royal, and a few release dates too. I'll wrap up TGS next week with any late breaking stuff from the press conferences. Thanks for listening!

With Tokyo Game Show only a week away, Nintendo beat everyone to the punch with a massive Direct last night. We got huge news of a Xenoblade Chronicles Remaster as well as Tokyo Mirage Sessions. There were other stories too including a battle update on Atelier Ryza and Persona 5 Royal. Next week is TGS so this is all just the tip of the iceberg. Don't miss this or next week's show!

In the weeks between Gamescon and Tokyo Game Show, news can be light. But we soldier on and actually have some cool stories to talk about. The first is the first solid details of Atelier Ryza's battle system. While still turn based, its a departure from previous titles and looks great. We also had some Persona 5 Royal tidbits, the first screenshots for Star Ocean 1's remaster, and more baddies from Monster Hunter World Iceborne. Plus we get a solid release date for Caravan Stories and it's very soon. Thanks for listening!
