Being in Selma, Alabama this weekend to mark the 50th commemoration of Bloody Sunday on the Edmund Pettus Bridge was a remarkable experience. To see the many foot soldiers, politicians, celebrities and so many other people unite as one showed those who fought for us that we have not forgotten their sacrifices for our rights and that we still have much to fight for. Hopefully, more and better change will come as we push forward to having equality across the board for all.

People that are happy with themselves are hard to find these days. With so many external sources telling us what it takes to be happy, accepted, loved and beautiful it becomes more challenging for others to believe this for themselves. Do you believe that you deserve to be happy? Do you believe that you are beautiful? Do you practice self-edification? What have you told yourself or what have allowed others to tell you that that may be keeping you from happiness? Finding the to these questions starts from looking within.

Today is Valentine's Day! Although we show so much love to others on this national day of love, we need to make sure that we take time to love ourselves. Don't forget YOU! What have you done to show yourself some love? That's a question we all need to ask ourselves from time to time.
