Today is a Bible Talks episode and I will be taking on John 10-22-30.  In this text, Jesus is confronted by the Jewish leaders and asked directly, "Are you the Messiah?"  I love the way Jesus responds...and hint, hint...it has to do with sheep. 

In this episode, I will use the word SHEEP as an acrostic for 5 simple reminders of what it means to truly be a member of the sheep family.  I will warn you, Keith gets a little passionate in this episode so hang one. :)

Today, I have the privalege of chatting with Candace Czubernat who has been a therapist for 17 years and is the founder of the LGBTQ affirming counseling and coaching practice, The Christian Closet as well as the teletherapy organization Progressive Christian Counseling.  In both ministries, she and her team meet with people from all over the world for online telehealth sessions as they navigate the many intersections of life with a Christian faith.  Candice is a graduate of The Moody Bible Institute and The Seattle School of Theology and Psychology.  She identifies as a lesbian and a Christian. She lives in a small mountain town in southern California with her wife, the love of her life, Crystal, and their 7-year-old boy/girl twins Deacon and Dylan.  If she's not working you can find her testing science projects with her kids, playing family board games or wrestling with their puppy Charlite Bonz. 

In this episode Candice and I chat about her story, the difficulties many have with accepting their faith (salvation) along with their queerness as well as mixed marriages (queer-straight).  This was a powerful chat and I think you will truly enjoy it.  So, grab that cup of coffee, have a seat at my table, and let's chat on this episode of Coffee with Keith.

On this episode of "Coffee with Keith," I welcome life coach, Annie  Henderson.  Annie M. Henderson is a Life Coach, Counselor, EFT Practitioner and Coming Out Coach for LGBTQ+ and families struggling with their child coming out and need some guidance along this way. 

Annie grew up a people pleaser, not coming out of the closet until she was in her late 20s.  She now has a partner of 10 years and a 15-year old daughter and lives in Texas.   

I so enjoyed our chat with Annie which obviously  included her personal story as LGBTQIA+ and other topics as they pertain to the community.  Give this one a listen.  I do need to mention that my voice was not quite up to normal on this episode so please overlook that.

Join me today for a Bible Talks edition of the Coffee with Keith Podcast.  Today, we take a look a Psalm 150 as our inspiration.  In it the Psalmist gives the instruction to the people of Israel who gathered to worship that they should praise God.  I even think, based on the instruction, it was the lights, guitars, and powerful drum beats of that day.  But, I like to get as practical as I can when I take inspiration from the Bible.  So, in this episode I use the word ,"Praise," to set the backdrop for 6 practical blessings of praising God.

On today's episode of "Coffee with Keith," I invite HT to the podcast.  HT (who goes by they, them) is an educator, advocate, and musician from Austin.  They have 2 dogs, a golden retriever, and a black lab.  HT grew up in the conservative, southern Baptist culture as a gay kid.  They didn't come out until the age of 21, so before then, HT led worship and bible studies throughout the teen and young adult years. HT worked at several churches as a children's minister or youth group volunteer. Now HT is exploring deconstruction as they were outed by a mentor and kicked off the leadership team and worship team at the age of 21.  HT has been slowly walking away from the religion they grew up on and advocating for people to change their perspective and drop the toxic evangelical theology of their upbringing.  HT also advocates for a better world by speaking out for those who do not have a voice, or those who are still in the closet and can't quite use their own voice safely yet.

Hi and welcome to this week's episode of "Coffee with Keith."  On today's episode, you will hear me share some thoughts from this Easter  Sunday's Gospel text, John 20:1-18.  Yes...it is a glorious Sunday in the life of the church and for all those who claim to be followers of Jesus.  But, as I was thinking about the text, and experiencing the turn from Winter to Spring, I couldn't help but think about the burial.  Much like a seasonal seed, Jesus was places "under grown."  And much like those little seeds, He sprouted forth in life and celebration.  Well, I figured there might be some things you and I need to put to death in our lives as LGBTQ+ Christians (or just as people in general).  So, this week I use the word "DEATH" as my acrostic to share with you some thoughts on the matter.

Chloe Specht is an example of what can develop from a hard place of spiritual trauma.  Raised in an ultra-conservative denomination, from a family of ministers, Chloe talks about her personal journey and the obstacles she had to overcome. You will feel empowered after hearing my chat with Chloe.

Chloe Specht is a pastor's-kid-turned-exvangelical from North Carolina.  She is a writer and theologian working at the intersections of queerness, disability, and progressive spirituality.  She holds a Master of Divinity and is a candidate for pastoral ordination in The Christian Church (Disciples of Christ).  I must say here that I am pretty sure I said the wrong denomination in this episode, but please overlook my mistake.  It is Disciples of Christ.
