  • Discovering life as a Home-MAKER with Kathryn Garland

Kathryn is a wife and mother and those are the hats she wears the proudest. She also is the host of Homespun: Create the Life you Crave Podcast. She is a teacher by training turned homeschooling mama, life long learner and farmer’s wife. She lives a life dreams are made of in British Columbia, Canada.

The more Kathryn became more entrenched in motherhood she began to realize how much more important being a home-MAKER was. Her mission and purpose is to help people see the power of the home and the possibilities that come from a safe and grounded home (in the heart, in relationships, and in the physical dwelling) and the true magic we can create from this place.

In this episode we talk about:

Life as a Home-MAKER and what that looks like

Doing hard things and the overall experience doesn’t feel hard when it lights you up and when you truly want it.

Rhythm of the seasons in nature and in life and how to honor, respect and follow these seasons.

Don’t be afraid to ask “dumb” questions to make sure you are doing it right.

Feeling settled as a family with a lifestyle that makes sense to her family.

How to trust yourself and trust the process.

    Purpose breeds happiness.

If you are meant to get somewhere you will get there.

  • Finding Courage in Knowing That I Am Loved with Pam Strain

Pam works with a nonprofit called You Gotta Ask in Boise, Idaho. She mentors women throughout the Treasure Valley and beyond. She loves creating safe places for women to openly explore the tough questions and challenges of life. Her favorite hobby is “soul sloshing”—talking with women over a cup of coffee about matters of the heart. She considers it a privilege to walk alongside women to help them discover and embrace who they are and what their unique purpose is. She is passionate about teaming up together to create events and gatherings for women that build authentic connections and community.

In this episode Pam shares how knowing the unconditional love of God and how loved she is has given her the courage to step out of her comfort zone throughout her life. She dives into what key nudges she receives from God when he wants her to do something. That the fear of rejection and failure is worth the risk. To be prepared as if an event is going to be a success. Authenticity is actually fear producing for most people. How women are craving connection and community but tired of trying to find it. Just showing up is sometimes enough.  Please join me and cozy up on the couch and relish in this warm and loving episode of the Kindred Journey.

  • Overcoming the Fear of Failure w/Homesteader Heather the Lifelong Learner

In this episode Heather shares her experiences that brought moments of nostalgia, challenges, teachable moments, and how to sit with the emotion of disappointment. She expresses how not only rural living was calling her home but her role as a teacher will always be pulling at her in one way or another whether it is in the classroom or on the yoga mat. After opening a yoga studio while taking a leave of absence from her teaching career she steps into courage by overcoming the fear of failure. She also touches on that you have to ask, if you don’t ask the answer will always be no. She encourages us to keep our eyes open for all the things that are coming your way that you aren’t expecting, and that sometimes we put blinders on when we have all these expectations. Please join me on this adventurous expedition with Homesteader Heather the lifelong learner.

  • Embracing Courage Through the Messy Middle with Brooke Koeninger

Brooke is a former management consultant turned business and life coach who now works with ambitious women helping them to rediscover their happiness and create the business of their dreams. In our conversation we deep dive into how after she became a working mom she became lost in her sense of purpose. We explore her desire to lean into her identity in the work force which led her to working more than she wanted and caused her to outsource her identity of being a mom, which later led Brooke to exiting the corporate world all together. We talk about action is where you actually learn and how to identify with what alignment means to you. We dig into what the “messy middle” looks like and how your comfort zone expands when connecting to your true identity and remaining curious with what makes you happy while embracing the messy middle.
