The opening words in this Epistle gives us the proper title of it, "The Revelation of Jesus Christ." To many this a book of dark mystery and a source of speculation as well as confusion.  However, it's called "Revelation" for a reason!  It's a revealing of God's plans for those to whom it was written to in the first-century.  It is a revealing or disclosing of something.  So, we focus on just the first three verses because it will be interesting to see what Jesus reveals about the time of His return because it seems that He indeed established that this Epistle is "The Revelation" of Him!  There is nothing mysterious here at all.  He is not hiding anything from His servants.  No, He was showing, revealing, and disclosing to THEM things He wanted THEM to read, hear, obey, and keep.

Sin's wages are death, not eternal torture, but death. God's gift is eternal life.  Dying and continuing to live forever for both the believer and the unbeliever presuppose that humans have souls that are immortal. And my thought has also been if the free gift from God for being in Christ is eternal life, which is immortality, then those who go to hell for all eternity are also receiving immortality as well. In other words, that simply can not be the case because only believers receive this gift.  So where did this doctrine of an eternal soul come from and is it Biblical?

Well, here it is, the first episode of the Revelation series.  This is an introduction, a primer, on what Revelation is, how to read and understand the language used by John by considering principals of interpretation and using the Old Testament to get a better understanding on what is being said.  This will not be a verse by verse commentary on this Epistle but rather an overview of the message and overarching theme.  The goal will be to understand this as the recipients did, to whom it was written, and what it told them.  That being said, this will focus on a first-century fulfillment of the Revelation because it was written to seven churches in the first-century.  It had to be a prophetic letter containing things which were soon to take place to them and not us 2,000 years later.

This part of the Lord's prayer is either the most misunderstood or misinterpreted part of the model prayer itself.  From the Calvinist to the Charismatic, there's either so much sovereignty at play that it is what it is and nothing can be done or we have so much control we are supposed to literally manifest Heaven and take over the Earth.  The question is, "What is God's will?"  So many people spend so much time searching, praying, and crying out to God for His will to be done in their lives and on Earth but seem to miss the simplicity of what that actually is!  Do you need a vision, a calling or a dream to walk in God's will?  The answer is simple because it's in His word, no, you don't.  Know His word, know His will and then live it out in Christ on Earth.

We now come to the second request in "The Lords Prayer", "Your kingdom come." Young's Literal says, "Thy reign come." An even more literal translation states, "Come the kingdom of You."  So if Christ taught his disciples to pray, "Your kingdom come," then it seems that the kingdom had not yet come or fully come and then it starts to get a little confusing. People are confused about this today. An example is Dispensationalists who believe Jesus brought the Kingdom in His ministry but when He ascended He took it back with Him. Thinking like the Jews, The Kingdom was supposed to be physical but the Jews rejected Him, so He instead died for the rest of the world, the Gentiles and went back to Heaven with The Kingdom. So they are waiting for the Gentile church to be raptured off the earth so Jesus will then bring The Kingdom back to the Jews and in a physical manner to be manifested on the earth.  So to all that, I say we take a look at what the scriptures say of the timing and nature of The Kingdom.

Adding on to the Rethinking: The Last Days Sermons, Marcuss goes into a little more detail here to help put it all together.  Biblical last days are not some distant far off future event.  They were the days of the Old Covenant and Apostate Jews in the first century.  There are more than enough (over 100) time statements to come to that conclusion.  What even more telling is John changes the timing from the last days to the last hour!  So to all who wanted a little more last days, here is more!

In Mattew 6, Jesus gives a pattern for prayer.  This isn't really His prayer as most of us think that it is.  Jesus did not need to pray for forgiveness.  This is a pattern, a blueprint for prayer.  The opening lines teach family connection and privilege.  "Our Father" points to many who are in the Body and our brothers and sisters.  Asking God to let His name be hallowed is to ask to make His name to be Holy to us.  Let us never forget how Awesome and Holy our Father really is.

Let's get these two phrases back into context.  If you know anything about this podcast it should be that Marcuss is big on context.  Context is king when reading the Bible and know this, a text without a context is just a con.  So let's look at a couple of phrases that the Modern Evangelical Industrial False New Breed Complex like to toss around.  New wine is usually a new move of The Spirit and you need to get on board or get left behind.  Moving from glory to glory is usually tied to one degree of anointing to the next.  The thing is, you won't find that in the Bible!  These two phrases have something in common and it isn't you.  It's Jesus and the New Covenant.

This is the second sermon on rethinking the last days as taught by scripture.  We have seen the context of Matthew 24, learned proper hermeneutics, and will continue to read within those principals.  Has the Gospel of The Kingdom been proclaimed to the whole world as Jesus said so that, then, the end would come?  Paul seemed to think so.  What was the end then?  This sermon addresses these issues and ends with several texts throughout the New Testament that mention what was about to come to those within the first-century.  Let us be in the last days of believing in the last days.  **correction: at the end it is said to compare the end of revelation with Daniel 8 but it is actually Daniel 12**
