  • "A Plain View" with Jason Lee
Our guest this week has spent time in front of the lens as an actor and professional skateboarder, but his most recent work is done from behind the camera. Intrigued by the cameras on a set, Jason Lee began his foray into all things photographic and came out the other side a talented artist. We discuss his upcoming book “A Plain View,” a collection of large format color film photographs of rural Texas. A selection of his work from "A Plain View" will be shown at an exhibit in Texas from June 2- June 18th but in the fall you'll be able to get a copy of the book yourself and be able to see how beautiful and honest Jason's work is. Special thanks to Kodak resident photography aficionado Matt Stoffel for joining us this week!

Alex just completed his fifth film, Golden Exits and he was able to talk with us about what drives his decisions as a film maker. All film makers are faced with choices: What guides the narrative, solely personal creative choices? When do you consider the audience and how does that shape your writing? Who will my characters be, how will I push my self creatively? Will I shoot on film? Alex humbly and honestly discusses how he answers these questions for himself. Listen in to hear what unfolds!

  • "The Last Laugh" with Ferne Pearlstein and Anne Etheridge
When director Ferne Pearlstein set out to make her documentary The Last Laugh, she had a unique and delicate task before her; she wanted to highlight the subject of when and if it's okay to laugh about traumatic events in society, like the Holocaust. She and her cinematographer Anne Etheridge handled the task with extreme care and respect and created a balanced film about how humans can use humor to deal with something that's not funny. In this episode, Ferne and Anne discuss the challenges and rewards of approaching this important subject.
